Jakarta – President Prabowo began a state visit to Saudi Arabia with a strategic mission to strengthen bilateral cooperation while promoting stability in the Middle East region. This visit is a step to expand Indonesia’s active role on the global stage, especially in facing the developing geopolitical dynamics in the region.

President Prabowo arrived at the Royal Terminal, King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah, on Wednesday (2/7/2025), and was officially welcomed by the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in an honorary ceremony. The President is scheduled to meet directly with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

“God willing, the President will discuss a number of important agendas with Prince Mohammad bin Salman,” said the Head of the Indonesian Hajj Organizing Agency, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf (Gus Irfan) who accompanied President Prabowo on his working visit to Saudi Arabia.

According to Gus Irfan, the focus of the discussion includes regional dynamics that are directly related to regional stability, as well as strengthening Indonesia’s position as a country that upholds peace and peaceful resolution of conflicts.

Previously, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi emphasized that President Prabowo’s visit agenda included political cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, as well as discussions on the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.

“We will definitely talk about political issues, political cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia as well as politics in the Middle East,” said Prasetyo after seeing off the President from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Tuesday (1/7/2025).

The situation in the Middle East region is currently still marked by tension due to prolonged conflicts in several areas, such as Palestine, Yemen, and Lebanon. In this context, Indonesia plays a role as a bridge for dialogue between countries, as well as strengthening humanitarian diplomacy.

The visit is also seen as an affirmative step in reviving the joint commitment between Islamic countries to maintain regional order through diplomacy. Indonesia considers that the stability of the Middle East is not only important for countries in the region, but also has a direct impact on global security, including the distribution of energy and the world economy.

In addition, the improvement of the hajj organization was also the focus of the President in this meeting. Such as the plan for the efficiency of the hajj pilgrims’ stay and better technical management, following a number of evaluations of the previous hajj organization.

“Including our plan to have our own Hajj Village in Saudi Arabia,” concluded Prasetyo.
