Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the war against drugs in Indonesia. As part of Asta Cita, President Prabowo’s priority in eradicating drugs is not just a directive, but a real step that includes coordination with law enforcement agencies to close every loophole in the distribution and smuggling of narcotics throughout the country.

“Drugs are a common enemy that we must fight with all our might, for the safety of future generations,” said President Prabowo.

In its implementation, the National Police have responded seriously to this directive by conducting integrated law enforcement operations in various regions. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, explained that his institution together with the Attorney General’s Office, BNN, PPATK, Directorate General of Customs and Excise, and various other agencies carried out integrated operations to break the chain of narcotics distribution.

?In the past two months, we have managed to uncover major cases and confiscate various types of drugs in large quantities. This is real evidence of our commitment to creating a safe environment, especially for the younger generation,? said Commissioner General Wahyu.

The National Police also implemented strategic steps to reduce drug trafficking. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said, “We are taking a comprehensive approach, from supply to demand, with an emphasis on eradication at every level.” The National Police Chief ensured strict action against officers involved so that the integrity of law enforcement is maintained.

In addition, the Head of BNN, Commissioner General of Police Marthinus Hukom, highlighted the problem of drug villages spread across various regions. “More than 900 locations in Indonesia are controlled by big dealers in a patron-client social structure. We are working hard to weaken the influence of these dealers through economic and social approaches for the affected communities,” said Marthinus.

The National Police and BNN continue to collaborate with the community to transform drug villages into drug-free areas through education and counseling programs. This approach also includes rehabilitation of drug users, with the aim of preventing them from getting caught up in the illicit drug trafficking cycle again. “Rehabilitation is not only for the recovery of users, but also as a preventive measure in efforts to eradicate drugs as a whole,” he added.

To minimize drug smuggling, surveillance is tightened at airports and border areas. In Aceh, Banda Aceh Police Chief Senior Commissioner Fahmi Irwan Ramli instructed intensive surveillance at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport. “We are closely monitoring every entry point, especially at vulnerable points, to support President Prabowo’s direction,” Fahmi explained.

Through synergy between various parties, President Prabowo is optimistic that the war against drugs can produce results. “The agenda of eradicating drugs is not just rhetoric, but a real step to create a healthy generation and a safe environment,” he concluded.
