CIDISS. Indonesia was appointed as the host in the annual meeting of International Monetary Fund or 2018 world bank. A number of praises were made directly by representatives of participants to Indonesia regarding the event taking place in Nusa Dua Bali which was attended by 36,619 participants from 189 countries. Indonesia received an assessment of successfully hosting the annual IMF meeting.

The meeting which took place from 8 to 14 October was the hard work of the government. The election of Indonesia to host the IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting is not easy, because Indonesia must compete with other countries to host. The selection process is not much different from the host selection for APEC events or sports events such as ASIAN Games.

The meeting in Bali was among the largest for organizing outside the United States, even the Managing Director and Chair of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde again praised Indonesia’s economy by calling the Indonesian economy “Excellent”. This praise was given after witnessing the significant changes experienced by the Indonesian economy since experiencing the financial crisis some 20 years ago despite the current depreciation of the rupiah against the US dollar.

During the meeting, President Joko Widodo also reminded world leaders to unite in the face of various global threats. According to President Jokowi, the trade war that continues to be practiced until now will end in a ravaged world. Besides that, global threats are not only from the economic side, but also life-threatening environmental problems.

In addition to the annual meeting, Indonesia received a number of benefits from this meeting. Indonesia can establish joint agreements regarding global economic issues to tourism and expand international networks. Despite getting some criticism, in this meeting Indonesia succeeded in attracting an investment agreement reaching 13.5 billion US dollars, equivalent to Rp 202 trillion
