Human rights issues indeed become one of the material in the debate of the first round of the 2019 presidential election held by the KPU. This certainly becomes an interesting point for the public to follow the presidential debate through both TV, Radio and the Internet.
Political Observer as well as Executive Director of Indonesia Political Review (IPR) Ujang Komarudin assessed that the presidential candidate Number 2 was the party who was the most disadvantaged due to the issue of human rights violations.
This is because the settlement of cases of human rights violations has not yet been completed and there is no special court to resolve the issue.
If the human rights issue continues to roll out, then this certainly can make it difficult for Prabowo to increase his electability before April 17, 2019.
Data shows that Prabowo was indeed involved in the kidnapping of 9 missing activists. Even so, Prabowo felt that kidnapping of Indonesians was morally innocent.
Prabowo claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of 9 pro-democracy activists. Initially, Prabowo received a list of searches for 28 radical activists. Of the 9 abduction victims, three of them according to Prabowo were wrongfully arrested.
Kidnapping itself is contrary to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. The statute classifies enforced disappearance, kidnapping as a crime against humanity.
Victims of enforced disappearances are usually kidnapped, detained without court orders and tortured during interrogation. Some were killed and their bodies thrown away so that they could not be found even though the operation of enforced disappearances sometimes had the purpose of maintaining security, in the end such operations protected human rights by carrying out human rights violations.
One of the victims wrongly kidnapped Pius Lustrilanang receiving torture by being electrocuted and immersed in water, even though he was only a victim of a kidnapping. Such operations are certainly not suitable for democratic countries because they suppress political opponents by creating fear in the community.
This kidnapping operation is certainly known by the TNI elite above it. However, there are not enough clues to lead to this. If this suspicion is correct, then Prabowo does not mean to get out of error, because he should be able to reject the operation for humanitarian reasons. This certainly gives the impression that in a conflict situation, Prabowo does not put forward humanitarian aspects.
On the other hand we often hear that Prabowo is a brilliant and highly disciplined TNI Officer, but under pressure from the 98 reformation situation, the team under his control can move out of control and commit acts that are cruel and inhumane.
Therefore the issue of Human Rights could haunt Prabowo who is currently participating in the contest against the presidential election presidential candidate Joko Widodo.
The Indonesian Association of Disappeared Persons (IKOHI) also believes that Prabowo was involved in the kidnapping of 1998 activists. Chairman of the IKOHI federation Mugiyanto also wanted Prabowo’s accountability in the case of kidnapping activists in 98 years ago.
The victims’ families have been searching, struggling, demanding truth and justice, this is certainly not an issue of recycling. It also rejected candidates for human rights violators.
Maj. Gen. (TNI) Syamsu Djalal also raised the issue of the kidnapping of activists ahead of the reform. The former TNI Danpuspom who investigated the kidnapping of activists said that the Kopassus Mawar team admitted that they had kidnapped a number of people.
They also claimed to have carried out the kidnapping because they were ordered by the then Special Forces Commander, Prabowo Subianto. At that time, Syamsu felt strange because the kidnapped did not endanger the country. He then summoned all survivors to be questioned.
It should also be noted that Lieutenant General Prabowo Subianto was dismissed from the military for allegedly involved in the kidnapping of 13 activists who are still missing, Prabowo also lived in Jordan and returned to Indonesia and plunged into politics.
In another case, one of the volunteer teams for Jokowi in Papua did not want leaders who were considered to violate human rights. He said that cases of human rights violations that occurred in Papua had not yet been completed. Therefore, Jayapura rejects Prabowo Subianto whose salema is referred to as a case of human rights violations
The dark track record of Prabowo Subuanto, who was heavily involved in cases of human rights violations in various regions, certainly not just forgotten. Until now, the victims as well as witnesses still hold deep sorrow.
Prabowo also revealed that he was involved in the massacre in the village of Nggeselma Papua in 1996 where this involved foreign SAS British troops and mercenaries based in South Africa.

But the human rights violations committed by Prabowo seemed to be covered up, Prabowo had made a public lie to increase his prestige as a leader at that time. The lie was carried out to cover up the massacre of civilians after the release of the hostages.
After the hostages were released and raised to the helicopter there was an ambush by a Kopasus led by Prabowo Subianto. Both houses, animals, the community, the church, the impact was that many residents fled to the forests at that time
The military operation led by Prabowo with a series of cases affecting local civilians, including rape, destruction of churches and sitting houses, lack of food can also cause massive deaths and displacement.
If he looks at his track record, Prabowo does not show concern for human rights. What Prabowo did in Papua was an attempt to seize the crisis as a means to improve his reputation domestically and with the international community, through plans to release hostages with a “payment” arguing that negotiations had resulted in the shooting of civilians because they were considered sympathetic to the OPM.
Until this moment, the case that has dragged the Gerindra General Chairperson cannot be accounted for.
