4 Provinces of Kalimantan Island Listed 10 Largest Investments 2015

CIDISS – Foreign investment in Indonesia, especially in Kalimantan Island is quite large. Based on data of the capital investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM) turned out to be four provinces on the island of Kalimantan into the top 10 locations for foreign investment throughout 2015.

The four provinces are East Kalimantan (Kalimantan Timur) which ranked V with investment grade 1.3 billion u.s. dollars, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) rank VI (1.2 billion u.s. dollars), South Kalimantan (Kalsel) rank IX (961 million us dollars), and Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) in the ranking of X (value of 933 million u.s. dollars).

Head of BKPM, Franky Sibarani, stated that the achievements give positive impact to encourage growth development outside Java.

The Government, according to him, will continue to prioritize investments outside Java to foster equitable development in Indonesia. For example, beside the provinces of Kalimantan, two provinces that listed in the top 10 are the West Sumatra and Central Sulawesi in the seventh and eighth ranks.
The main contributors to the investment sector in four provinces of Kalimantan are mining sector, food crops and plantations, industrial base metals, metal goods, machinery and electronics, and housing, as well as industrial areas and offices.

Interregional competition for attracting investment rated positive enough to spur the economy back in their respective regions.
