The National Agency for Counter Terrorism (BNPT) is to build 48 cells in Sentul for terrorist deradicalization program, officials said Monday, September 21.

BNPT Chief Commissioner General Saud Usman Nasution said that the cells will be specified for terrorist inmates willing to cooperate. Saud said on Monday that BNPT separates terrorist inmates based on their willingness to cooperate.

“Non-cooperative inmates tend to spread radical influence,” he said.

Moreover, Saud said that the cells are according to Presidential Regulation No 46/2010 Article 4 on BNPT being the primary institute for Crisis Control Center for terrorism.

“We expect that we can build a fully-operational crisis centers. Therefore, the president can monitor and make a call in terms of counter terrorism,” he said.

Previously, president Jokowi has instructed that three institutes, National Narcotics Agency (BNN), BNPT, and Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla), to extend their authorities and functions, in order to achieve a more effective result.
