Government Ensures 2026 Hajj Pilgrimage Remains Safe Amid Global Conflict

Jakarta, – The government ensures that the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage will proceed safely and smoothly despite the dynamic geopolitical situation in the Middle East. Through intensive coordination with the Saudi Arabian government and various related parties, the government emphasizes that the safety and comfort of Indonesian pilgrims is its top priority.

Heni Hamidah, Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, stated that there have been no changes to the departure schedule for Indonesian pilgrims.

“We ensure that the Hajj pilgrimage will proceed as planned. The Saudi Arabian authorities are also continuing to carry out all Hajj processes according to the initial plan,” she said.

According to Heni, the government continues to actively coordinate with various authorities to ensure optimal services for pilgrims. Despite the global dynamics, security conditions are considered under control, and there have been no specific warnings regarding the Hajj.

“There are no specific warnings yet, but it is recommended that flights avoid conflict areas,” she explained.

He also emphasized that communication between the Indonesian and Saudi Arabian governments continues to be strengthened to anticipate various potential issues. “We always coordinate. If there are any obstacles related to the Hajj, coordination with us is also going well,” Heni added.

Maman Imanul Haq, a member of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), also expressed his support for the preparedness of the Hajj organization. He confirmed that the Indonesian government, along with Saudi Arabian authorities, have prioritized security.

“Based on our monitoring, Saudi Arabia has confirmed that security is a priority. Indonesia is also taking diplomatic steps to ensure our pilgrims can perform their pilgrimage safely,” Maman said.

He explained that the Indonesian government is actively pursuing international diplomacy to ensure that the Hajj pilgrimage is not affected by the developing geopolitical conflicts in the region. This step is considered crucial to maintaining the peace and security of pilgrims.

Meanwhile, Agung Prabowo, Director of Finance for the Hajj, stated that Hajj operations are currently running normally and under control.

“The overall operational impact is relatively limited and under control. We continue to coordinate closely with partners and relevant authorities to ensure all Hajj and Umrah services run safely and smoothly,” he explained.

The government considers synergy between ministries, the House of Representatives (DPR), Saudi Arabian authorities, and Hajj service providers to be a crucial factor in ensuring the smooth running of the pilgrimage amidst global challenges. With strong coordination and measured anticipatory measures, Indonesia is optimistic that the 2026 Hajj will proceed safely, orderly, and comfortably for all pilgrims.

Amidst the dynamic global situation, the government reaffirms its commitment to continue providing maximum protection to Indonesian pilgrims so they can perform their pilgrimage with reverence and peace of mind.
