PPKM, Prokes Discipline and Vaccination Effectively Reduce Covid-19 Cases

The trend of decreasing active cases of Covid-19 continues after the implementation of the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). However, the public is asked to always obey Prokes and follow vaccinations so that cases of the Covid-19 explosion do not happen again.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Ir. Joko Widodo is grateful for the improvement in public health conditions in the country in the last few days. The improvement in the situation is reflected in the daily number of cases and the bed occupancy rate (BOR) which continues to decline.

The government recorded, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, an additional daily case of 18,671. This figure has dropped dramatically from the peak of the crisis on July 15, which reached 56 thousand cases.

National BOR per day also recorded only 29%. In fact, in mid-July, the bed occupancy rate reached more than 80%, which was exacerbated by the scarcity of oxygen in the tubes. These good results can be realized because the government in implementing policies, always relies on data and facts in the field as well as inputs from experts in the health sector.

In the opening moment of the Indonesian Economist Workshop, Jokowi said that the team of epidemiologists had conveyed that we must be careful. If not handled immediately this could rise to 80,000, then rise to 160,000, even up to above 400,000. But thank God, the development of cases has been getting better, there has been a decline.

Despite the decline, Jokowi also asked all elements of the nation to remain vigilant. Members should also be careful in deciding each policy. Jokowi also invites all parties to continue to work extraordinary before the multidimensional crisis we are currently facing ends.

Meanwhile, several regions in Indonesia still recorded high additional positive cases. As in East Java, there were an additional 1,310 cases to 372,392 cases. Then West Java with 1,192 cases to 669,102 cases.

Next is North Sumatra which increased by 1,002 to 89,068 cases, Central Java 822 cases to 462,179 cases and finally DKI Jakarta increased by 702 cases to 845,931 cases. In total, confirmed positive cases throughout Indonesia have reached 3,979,456 cases. Active cases fell by 12,898 cases to 306,760 cases. There were 148,410 specimens with 262,664 suspects. Recorded healing as many as 3,546,324 people or an increase of 24,276 in a day. Unfortunately, the death cases also increased, there were 1,030 people to 126,372 cases.

Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the transmission of the corona virus was decreasing. Improved development can be seen from the level of bed occupancy or BOR which continues to decline.

In Jakarta, the BOR for the isolation of COVID-19 patients is now filled with 22 percent. A total of 140 hospitals that treat Covid-19 patients provide 8,745 beds and are filled with 1,896 beds. Of the 1,468 beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Jakarta, now 586 beds are occupied or 40% of the hospital bed capacity.

He also said that not all of the patients receiving treatment were residents of Jakarta. There are 24-30 residents from outside Jakarta who are being treated in the capital. On a different occasion, Deputy Governor (Wagub) of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria revealed that currently there is only one RT area in Jakarta which is still in the red zone of Covid-19 transmission.

In addition, the government continues to carry out various policies, such as implementing PPKM, optimizing command posts and arranging travel agents to prevent transmission in the community. As well as preventing the importation of cases that could worsen the Covid-19 condition in Indonesia.

The Health Protocol (prokes) is a very important element during the Covid-19 pandemic. The process continues even though the vaccination program is running as it is today. It has been more than a year that the community has carried out prokes during the pandemic. The hope is that the public will understand more about the importance of health care procedures as a way to prevent additional Covid-19 cases.

Vigilance is absolutely necessary, because even though Indonesia has received the vaccine, Indonesia is still far from the target of herd immunity, so health protocols must still be enforced for the sake of personal safety and the safety of those around us.

Tightening health protocols is a fixed price in order to achieve herd immunity, on the other hand vaccinations must also be encouraged to end the Covid-19 pandemic.
