CENTRAL PAPUA — Efforts to maintain security stability in Central Papua continue to be strengthened through synergy between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to create a safe and conducive environment and support the smooth flow of community activities. The security reinforcements were implemented following security disturbances in several areas that had the potential to hinder public mobility and regional development.
The integrated measures implemented by the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) III and Koops Habema are considered successful in restricting the movement of armed groups that have been disrupting public order. The joint forces were also reported to have successfully secured a number of combat equipment and taken action against separatist group members in several vulnerable areas.
Amidst this situation, community activities in various regions of Central Papua remain normal. Several inter-regional connecting routes that were previously prone to disruption are now under increased security, allowing for safer and smoother community mobility.
The Commander of Kogabwilhan III, Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto, emphasized that all security operations are being carried out to ensure that the community can go about their daily lives peacefully and without worry.
“We want to ensure that people can carry out their daily activities safely, children can attend school in peace, and development in Papua continues,” said Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto.
He added that TNI personnel prioritize professionalism and humanitarian principles in every operation. Their approach also considers protecting civilians to ensure security stability without disrupting people’s lives.
According to him, conducive security is a crucial foundation for accelerating development in Papua, especially in supporting education, health services, and economic activities in both remote and urban areas.
Meanwhile, the Central Papua Regional Police (Polda) have strengthened security at several strategic points, including the Dogiyai-Paniai section, which serves as a main route for community activity. The presence of officers on the ground is considered to increase the sense of security and prevent potential security disturbances from spreading further.
Central Papua Regional Police Chief, Brigadier General Jermias Rontini, stated that surveillance and patrols are being stepped up to ensure the situation remains under control.
“Currently, officers are still conducting security and conducting further investigations to ensure the situation at the location remains safe and under control,” emphasized Brigadier General Jermias Rontini.
The strengthened security measures have received support from various elements of society, as they are seen as having a positive impact on regional stability. The improved security situation also provides space for infrastructure development and public services to run more optimally.
In addition to focusing on regional security, authorities also reminded the public to be more discerning in responding to information circulating on social media. The spread of hoaxes and provocative narratives is considered capable of disrupting the peaceful atmosphere if not addressed carefully.
The Head of Information for Koops TNI Habema, Lieutenant Colonel Inf. M. Wirya Arthadiguna, emphasized the importance of collaboration between all elements of society in maintaining peace in Papua.
“Synergy between security forces and the community is crucial to maintaining peace and stability in Papua,” concluded Lieutenant Colonel Inf. M. Wirya Arthadiguna.
With strengthened coordination between the TNI, Polri, and the community, Central Papua is expected to continue moving towards a safer and more conducive situation, allowing for sustainable social, educational, and development activities.
