Jakarta – The government continues to strengthen efforts to improve the quality of human resources while expanding access to job opportunities for recent university graduates. Through the National Internship Program (MagangHub), the government has allocated a quota of 150,000 participants, which will open in early July 2026. This program is aimed at bachelor’s and diploma graduates to gain work experience, improve their competencies, and increase their chances of entering the industrial world.
Manpower Minister Yassierli stated that the government has decided to continue to cover all internship allowances through the state budget. He explained that the decision was made after considering various alternative financing schemes that had previously been discussed.
“Participants’ pocket money will remain 100 percent covered by the government, just as it was for the previous cohort,” Yassierli said. He explained that participants will receive monthly compensation based on the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) and Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK) at their respective placement locations. The government is currently finalizing budget support with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of State Secretariat.
“We are currently in the final stages of finalizing the budget and are still awaiting the completion of the process with the relevant ministries,” Yassierli said.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Spokesperson Haryo Limanseto confirmed that the 2026 MagangHub program will be opened in three batches, targeting a total of 150,000 participants. The program is a continuation of the 2025 National Internship Program, which was deemed to have yielded positive results for both participants and the organizing companies.
“The 2026 national internship program will begin in early July and is targeted to reach 150,000 participants, spread across three batches,” Haryo said.
Based on government evaluations, previous internship programs have successfully improved participants’ competencies, particularly in communication, teamwork, and technical skills. Furthermore, satisfaction levels among both participants and the host companies have been high. Approximately 35 percent of participants received job offers after completing their internships.
The government is optimistic that the expansion of the 2026 MagangHub quota will be an effective tool in accelerating the absorption of young workers while simultaneously improving the competitiveness of university graduates. With training support, real-world work experience, and the opportunity to obtain competency certification after the program concludes, the National Internship is expected to serve as a crucial bridge between the world of education and the evolving needs of industry.
