Jakarta – The government continues to strengthen digital transformation in the governance of national social assistance (bansos) to ensure that aid distribution to the public is more targeted, transparent, and accountable. Digitizing social assistance is part of the government’s efforts to increase the effectiveness of social protection programs while addressing the challenges of aid distribution amidst technological developments and social dynamics.
This step is being implemented through the integration of aid recipient data, the use of digital systems in the verification and validation process, and the strengthening of coordination between relevant ministries and agencies. The government considers digitalization a crucial tool for minimizing the potential for data errors, reducing duplication of recipients, and ensuring that aid reaches those truly deserving.
Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf emphasized that the government is continuing to refine its social data collection system to ensure more accurate and targeted aid distribution. He stated that utilizing digital technology will expedite the data update process and improve the quality of services to the public.
“Digitizing social assistance is a strategic step to ensure that social assistance is provided to those in need appropriately, transparently, and accountably,” said Saifullah Yusuf.
In line with this, the government is also strengthening the use of the National Social and Economic Single Data (DTSEN) as the primary basis for implementing various social assistance programs. This data integration is expected to improve synchronization between programs and avoid inaccurate targeting, a long-standing public concern.
The implementation of digital systems also allows for faster, real-time monitoring and evaluation. This allows the government to quickly implement improvements if any obstacles are encountered in program implementation. Furthermore, the public will have easier access to information regarding the assistance they receive.
Fifi Aleyda Yahya, Director General of Public Communications and Media at the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi), believes that digitizing social assistance is a crucial step in modernizing governance. Data- and technology-based systems are believed to be able to improve budget efficiency while strengthening public trust in the government’s social protection programs.
“Digitizing social assistance is a strategic step in realizing more modern, transparent, and accountable governance. By utilizing a data- and technology-based system, the government can ensure that aid is distributed more precisely to its intended recipients, reduce the potential for errors and duplication of recipients, and increase the efficiency of state budget use. At the same time, greater transparency in the social assistance distribution process will strengthen public trust in the government’s social protection programs,” he said.
Through strengthening digital systems, integrating national data, and enhancing oversight, the government is optimistic that social assistance distribution will become more effective in reaching those in need. This step is part of the government’s commitment to providing better public services while strengthening equitable social protection for all Indonesians.
