The Situation is Increasingly Conducive, Security Forces Still Standing Guard at PT. GNI

Morowali Utara – The current situation at PT. Gunbuster Nickel Industry (GNI) following the clash incident that occurred on Saturday (14/1/2023) is conducive and workers are carrying out their activities as usual.

Nevertheless, the TNI/Polri are still on alert to secure the PT GNI industrial area in North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi. TNI/Polri also deployed around 909 personnel.

“In fact, the Gorontalo Police Mobile Brigade Unit sent 200 company-level unit personnel (SSK) to help with security as a form of synergy,” said North Morowali Police Chief AKBP Imam Wijayanto contacted from Palu, Sunday (22/1/2023).

Not to forget, the Morut Police Chief thanked the Central Sulawesi Regional Police, the Mobile Brigade, and the Gorontalo Regional Police who have supported this step to create a conducive situation.

Meanwhile, the Village Head of Bahoue, North Morowali, Muh Syarih appreciates the existence of PT GNI in his area. According to him, PT GNI has created jobs for Bahoue residents.

“I see the current situation, young people who previously had difficulty getting jobs, with this company it can greatly help and reduce unemployment,” he said

The Bahoue Lurah also regretted the incident of PT GNI workers’ clashes that had previously occurred. He considered that the incident could result in a slowdown in the economy and increased unemployment.

Previously, Rais Syuriah, the Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Manager (PCNU) of North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, Faisal Daeng Siame, appealed to the people of North Morowali Regency to carry out normal activities.

He also asked PT GNI employees to maintain security and order so that the investment climate could continue as it should.

“I appreciate the TNI/Polri security forces and also the government for controlling the situation so that it is safe and conducive,” said Ustadz Faisal.

Faisal also asked PT GNI to always stay within the legal corridors of the rules and regulations that apply in Indonesia.

He said that if this was done so that clashes between PT GNI workers would not recur in the future.

“Especially the Labor Law which covers the implementation of occupational health and safety,” he said.
