CKG Ensures Quality Health for Children and Students

Pontianak — The Free Health Check (CKG) Program continues to be strengthened as a strategic step to ensure the regular and continuous monitoring of the health of children and students in various regions. This program is part of efforts to build a foundation of healthy human resources from an early age and supports optimal learning processes in educational environments.

In various regions, CKG activities have reached students from elementary to secondary levels. Health workers visit schools to conduct direct examinations, facilitating access to services without disrupting learning activities.

Examination results are recorded as the basis for follow-up, including education, referrals, and further health interventions.

Deputy Minister of Health, Dante Saksono Harbuwono, confirmed that the examinations in the CKG program for students do not stop at data collection alone, but are followed up with medical interventions if abnormalities are found.

“So, this is not just data collection; there is follow-up based on the results of the free health checks for schoolchildren,” said Dante.

He also emphasized the importance of mental health screenings, which are carried out in stages according to educational level.

“If there are abnormalities that require treatment, they can go to the community health center. If the community health center can handle them, they are treated there. If they cannot, they will be referred to the hospital,” explained Dante.

This program also strengthens the role of schools by optimizing the School Health Program (UKS) in monitoring students’ health conditions and encouraging the adoption of clean and healthy lifestyles. Education about personal hygiene and nutritious eating patterns is an important part of the program’s implementation.

The Deputy Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Veronica Tan, stated that the CKG plays a crucial role in ensuring children’s health from an early age.

“This program is crucial as a preventative measure and early detection in children. By identifying health conditions early on, interventions can be carried out appropriately and quickly,” she said.

The CKG prioritizes a promotive and preventive approach to prevent the risk of disease early. Equitable services are also a focus, reaching areas with limited access to healthcare. Furthermore, recording of examination results is being directed to a digital system to support continuous monitoring and the formulation of more targeted policies.

Through consistent implementation, this program is expected to be able to create a healthy, strong generation that is ready to face future challenges.
