Millennials Asked Not to Abstentions in the 2024 Election to Determine the Fate of the Nation

East Java – Millennials have been asked by many parties not to carry out abstentions in the upcoming 2024 general election. The reason is, the voting rights they give are able to determine the fate of this nation in the future.

Deputy Chairperson of the East Java DPRD, Anwar Sadad asked millennials not to abstain from abstentions in the upcoming 2024 elections.

According to him, the role of the younger generation is very large.

“Don’t be apathetic, or even abstain in 2024. The role of millennials, young people is very big in 2024,” he said.

Not only that, but the man who is familiarly called Gus Sadad also advised millennials to continue working and not be afraid of politics.

“I order to young people, keep active and work, don’t be afraid of politics,” he said.

Meanwhile, Politician from the NasDem Party for Cirebon City, Rickie Ferdiansyah, also did the same thing, not inviting young people not to abstain from voting.

He emphasized that by participating in the General Election, these youths are contributing to the progress of the nation.

“Because in the end they will be the successors of this nation, participating in election activities is a form of initial contribution to the country,” he said.

“If they want to be a big part, they have to be agents for continuing the nation’s development, mentally and physically by taking a greater role in the nation in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

Furthermore, according to Rickie, if youths practice abstaining, especially when they have entered the group of first-time voters and have voting rights, this is of course wrong.

Because having these rights means that it is time for young people to have a voice in determining the fate of the nation in the future.

According to him, it is inappropriate for a millennial to be proud of themselves when they abstain.

“Abstract is not a great jargon, let alone cool, anything that is neutral or Abstentions has a lower value than what already has sence. Millennials won’t say that golput is cool. They will say that abstaining is only for the weak,” said Rickie.

Precisely when young people abstain, it means the same as they don’t care about the people’s misery and don’t want to make any changes at all.

“Young soul, is the soul of a leader. The period is silent to see its people in trouble, the period is silent to see the collapse of this country,” said the NasDem politician.

“If you say the government is not good. Let’s get up, so the choice is to make a real contribution to be part of a government that can change from within,” he said.

All the enthusiasm, voices and thoughts of the youth to be able to make changes to this nation are really needed, so Rickie hopes they don’t take the step of abstaining from voting.

“Let’s get up together, make a change. Young people have the mind, soul and passion to make changes. Don’t take a wrong step by taking abstentions, because abstentions will not bring change,” he concluded

On another occasion, the Deputy Regent of Bengkayang, Syamsul Rizal also invited all people in the district to exercise their right to vote and not abstain from voting in the 2024 elections.

For him, it is very important for people to be able to use what they choose according to their hearts.

Many things have been attempted, including election socialization to the public in order to improve the quality of political education.

Thus, all of them prevent people from abstaining from abstaining and do not regret if later there are people who are deemed inappropriate but lead.

“No one abstains. Don’t get angry when people are seated. This socialization needs to be carried out including political parties, “said Syamsul.
