The Free Nutritional Meals Program (MBG) is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s strategic policies, designed to improve the quality of Indonesia’s human resources from an early age. Amidst efforts to accelerate human development, this program addresses not only nutritional needs but also long-term investments for the nation’s future.

The large scope and allocated budget make the MBG a program that requires strong governance. Therefore, the program’s success is determined not only by the distribution of nutritious food to beneficiaries, but also by the government’s ability to maintain accountability and integrity at every stage of its implementation.

President Prabowo has demonstrated a firm stance on the importance of clean governance in the implementation of the MBG. He emphasized that the program is a significant state mandate that should not be misused by anyone for personal or group gain.

According to President Prabowo, the MBG has a noble goal of improving the quality of the nation’s next generation, requiring all parties involved to work responsibly. He emphasized that the program is sacred because it concerns the future of Indonesian children and should not be used as a means to enrich certain individuals.

This firmness is reflected in the evaluation of the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The President assessed that every public program organizer must be prepared to be accountable for their performance if any issues are discovered that could potentially hinder the achievement of program objectives.

President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation to the MBG officers working in various remote areas of Indonesia. He stated that the program’s success is inseparable from the dedication of thousands of field workers who ensure services reach communities even in remote areas.

Furthermore, President Prabowo’s firm stance reflects his awareness that large-scale programs always face governance risks. The larger the budget and scope of the program, the greater the need for an effective and transparent oversight system.

In this context, strengthening accountability is a key foundation for maintaining public trust in the MBG. Public trust is a crucial asset that determines the sustainability and effectiveness of public policy.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized that the government’s current focus is ensuring the MBG budget is used efficiently and on target. He stated that budget management must be fully directed towards optimally supporting the achievement of program objectives.

He believes that effective budget use is a crucial component of the MBG’s success. Every rupiah allocated must provide tangible benefits to program recipients so that the resulting social impact can be felt widely.

This perspective demonstrates that accountability is not only related to administrative oversight, but also concerns the efficient use of state resources. A good program is not simply one that is running, but rather one that is able to generate maximum benefits through sound governance.

The efficiency approach becomes increasingly relevant considering that the MBG is a long-term program that requires budget continuity. Therefore, careful financial management will determine the government’s ability to maintain the program’s sustainability in the future.

In addition to oversight and efficiency, the success of the MBG is also determined by the accuracy of its beneficiary targeting. A well-targeted program will have a greater impact on improving the nutritional quality of the community.

Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan expressed optimism that the new leadership at the National Agency for National Development Planning (BGN) will further strengthen the implementation of the MBG. He believes that improved governance will make the program more effective and able to reach groups truly in need.

He believes that the primary goal of the MBG is to ensure that program benefits are received equitably and accurately by the community. Therefore, inter-agency coordination and strengthening the monitoring system are crucial to supporting the program’s successful implementation.

Zulkifli Hasan also emphasized that the MBG program plays a strategic role in supporting the national development agenda, particularly in creating a healthy, productive, and competitive generation. With good governance, the program can be a crucial instrument in strengthening the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.

This perspective demonstrates that accountability and effectiveness are not mutually exclusive in determining the success of the MBG program. Beyond the number of beneficiaries or the amount of budget absorbed, success is also measured by the extent to which the program is implemented.

It is capable of improving the quality of life of the community through transparent, efficient, and accountable governance.

President Prabowo’s firmness in maintaining accountability signals that human development must not be compromised by deviant practices. With strong oversight, efficient budget use, and the commitment of all stakeholders, the MBG will be a crucial foundation for realizing a healthier, superior, and more competitive Indonesia in the future.
