President Prabowo Strengthens Agenda for Clean and Integrity-Based Government Without Corruption

By: Mila Fitri Rahmawati

The commitment to building a clean, integrated, and corruption-free government is one of the main foundations of national policy direction under President Prabowo Subianto. Amidst various development challenges that require significant financial support and accountable governance, efforts to eradicate corruption are not merely a law enforcement agenda, but also a crucial prerequisite to ensure that every rupiah of state funds is truly used for the benefit of the people.

President Prabowo’s statement at the consolidation meeting for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program at the Sentul International Convention Center demonstrated the government’s seriousness in strengthening the oversight and law enforcement system. The President openly requested the Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and the Attorney General to convey all institutional requirements needed to strengthen oversight and corruption eradication capacity. This step demonstrates that the government is not merely making normative commitments but is also providing concrete support in the form of strengthening human resources, budgets, and institutional instruments.

Corruption has long been one of the biggest obstacles to national development. Budget leaks reduce the effectiveness of government programs, hinder investment, reduce the quality of public services, and weaken public trust in state institutions. Therefore, when President Prabowo emphasized that he does not want the people’s money stolen and the country abused by corrupt practices, the message had strategic significance that went far beyond mere legal action. It reflected a determination to build a governance culture that upholds public accountability and responsibility.

Strengthening oversight and law enforcement institutions is a highly relevant step in the current context of national development. Various priority government programs, from improving the quality of human resources and infrastructure development to strengthening food security and the Free Nutritional Meal Program, require strong governance to ensure their benefits are optimally felt by the public. Without effective oversight, the potential for irregularities will always pose a threat, potentially diminishing the positive impact of these policies.

The Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Setyo Budiyanto, and Attorney General ST Burhanuddin are strategically positioned to ensure the effective implementation of the anti-corruption agenda. The President’s full support for these three institutions demonstrates a shared vision between political leaders and law enforcement officials to create a transparent government. This synergy is crucial because successful corruption eradication cannot be achieved in isolation but requires strong coordination between internal oversight, prevention, and law enforcement.

In addition to institutional strengthening, the success of the clean government agenda also depends heavily on the integrity of state officials. In this context, the statement by Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Saan Mustopa, serves as an important reminder to all ministries and institutions. Saan emphasized that the President’s aides must uphold President Prabowo’s commitment to eradicating corruption. He stated that every public official must maintain integrity, credibility, and professionalism in carrying out their duties, as their position is a mandate for which they must be accountable to the state and the public.

This statement conveys a highly relevant message. Corruption eradication efforts will not be successful if they rely solely on law enforcement after violations occur. Prevention must begin with the moral commitment of every official to refrain from abusing their authority. Therefore, developing a culture of integrity within the bureaucracy is as important an agenda as strengthening supervisory and law enforcement officials.

The public also has high expectations for the government’s commitment to creating clean governance. High public expectations arise because corruption has been a major obstacle to accelerated development for years. When the government demonstrates its commitment to strengthening the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), the Attorney General’s Office, and various other oversight mechanisms, public trust in state institutions will increase. This trust is crucial social capital for the success of various national development programs.

Going forward, the clean governance agenda must be consistently maintained. President Prabowo’s demonstrated commitment needs to be translated into concrete, sustainable steps, from strengthening the oversight system to digitizing public services.

Public accountability, increased budget transparency, and firm, impartial law enforcement. All elements of government must also exemplify the principles of integrity and accountability.

With strong political support from the President, synergy between oversight and law enforcement agencies, and the commitment of all state officials, the agenda of realizing a clean and corruption-free government has an increasingly solid foundation. These steps are not only crucial for safeguarding state finances but also key to ensuring that every development policy and program truly provides the greatest possible benefit for the welfare of the Indonesian people.
