Red and White Cooperative Prepares with Thousands of Trained Managers

Jakarta – The government continues to strengthen the institutional foundation of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative by preparing thousands of professional managers who will become the driving force behind cooperative management throughout Indonesia.

Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Ferry Juliantono revealed that the recruitment process for 30,000 managers of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative (Kopdes Merah Putih) has entered the final selection stage and will soon move on to training.

The prospective managers are targeted to be placed in village cooperatives in August 2026 to support the program’s operations.

“We are currently simultaneously recruiting managers for the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative, as this involves professionalism in managing the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative. The selection process will be completed by the end of July, and we are now entering the training preparation phase,” said Ferry.

He added that the government is recruiting approximately 35,000 cooperative managers, consisting of 30,000 managers from the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative and 5,000 managers from the Merah Putih Fishermen’s Village (KNMP).

“Yesterday, we recruited around 35,000 managers of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative, of which 30,000 were divided into 5,000 for the Merah Putih Village Cooperative, and 5,000 for the Merah Putih Fishermen’s Village,” he said.

Ferry explained that the prospective managers who passed the selection are currently being prepared for training before being placed in the field.

“The selection process is now complete. We are now entering the training preparation phase for prospective managers of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives, who, God willing, will be placed in all the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives in August,” he said.

Ferry stated that the need for professional managers is a crucial part of the operationalization of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative, which is now underway.

Previously, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the participants who passed the selection will undergo approximately two months of managerial and cooperative training before officially taking office.

The prospective managers will be equipped with various skills needed to develop cooperatives into healthy, productive, and sustainable economic institutions. “With a structured training process, it is hoped that they will be ready to carry out their duties and make a real contribution to the economic progress of village communities,” he concluded.
