The Inauguration of PYCH Makes More Real Equitable Development in Papua

The Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building whose first stone was laid by President Joko Widodo has now been completed and inaugurated. The building was built with a magnificent feel typical of the traditional houses of the people of Jayapura and Wamena City, with the appearance of a Honai roof and Kariwari roof, and even has complete facilities to support the interests, talents and creativity of young people in the Land of Papua.

Head of BIN, Police General (Purn.) Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan, SH, M.Sc., Ph.D., said that the inauguration of PYCH was a form of the President’s commitment to building a Papuan talent center as a driving force for Papua’s economy and prosperity.

PYCH’s vision and mission is to become a driving force in partnership with various stake holders. The Head of BIN is also optimistic that the original works of Papuan youth in PYCH, can go global with the development of Papuan Youth Human Resources, thus creating jobs in the business and economic development sector as well as arts and culture.

It is known that the Papua Youth Creative Hub building, which has been built magnificently in Jayapura, was inaugurated directly by President Joko Widodo on March 21, 2023 in Jayapura, Papua. This building is a means of the government for the welfare of the people in Papua. What is certain is that the existence of the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building can become a program to become a means of developing the potential of the young

generation in Bumi Cenderawasih.

During the inauguration of the PYCH Building, President Joko Widodo hoped that the existence of the PYCH Building, which was sparked at a meeting with young Papuans in September 2019, could become a center for young people’s creativity and innovation. According to Jokowi, Papua has enormous opportunities, so that it can provide increased welfare for the people of Papua.

President Jokowi also emphasized that Indonesia’s development is now not Java-centric but Indonesia-centric and Papua is a priority.

The efforts of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in distributing development from the West to the East of Indonesia are becoming increasingly visible day by day. It can even be said that this equalization effort is not only limited to discourse, but that equity has now also been truly realized. One of the government’s efforts to do equal distribution of buildings is to establish the Papua Youth Creative Hub in the framework of the welfare of the people of Papua.

Regarding the government’s deep concern for the younger generation in Papua, the Indonesian Student and Millennial Alliance (AMMI) appreciates President Joko Widodo. AMMI coordinator Nurkhasanah said the Head of State is indeed very focused on building the quality of youth human resources and the Land of Papua is no exception. In fact, according to him, the form of concern for the Indonesian government that was shown directly by President Jokowi and Head of Bin General Pol (Purn) Budi Gunawan in supporting and building the building (Papua Youth Creative Hub) PYCH is a real manifestation.

In addition, Nurkhasanah hopes that the Papua Youth Creative Hub Building will be able to produce innovative products such as start-ups that can accommodate many MSME products from people in Papua. It is also undeniable that he considers that development in Indonesia since the era of President Jokowi’s leadership has been very oriented towards national economic equality. So that what is happening in the field is not just development that is centered on the island of Java or Java-centric, but also that development is really being carried out evenly on various islands that perhaps were rarely paid attention to before.

It is known, the PYCH building has a main building consisting of two floors. This building is equipped with internet speed of 100 Mpbs with symmetrical 1:1 upstream downstream bandwidth. There is also CCTV up to the control room.

Next to the main building there are futsal and basketball courts. In the dormitory building there are two dormitory buildings, with a total of 24 rooms, complete with beds, wardrobes, self-contained toilets and other facilities. Each room can accommodate two people. Therefore, there are a total of 48 rooms in the two dormitory buildings that can accommodate 96 people.

In addition, the building is equipped with a centralized fire alarm system in the control room that links all horns inside and outside the building. This building also carries the concept of green building and utilizes natural energy sources such as lighting and wind energy. Therefore the Papua Youth Creative Hub

(PYCH) building does not need to turn on the lights during the day. The dormitory building is also the same, there is no need for lighting during the day because there are lots of windows and ventilation holes.

Previously, the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building had also been used by Papuan youths and collaborated with the Worship Everywhere community for religious events and spiritual concerts with the theme Jayapura Worship Festival Victory Night and was attended by hundreds of residents.

Through PYCH, it is hoped that the young generation of Papua can apply their potential and be innovative in order to support the acceleration of creating community welfare in Cendrawasih Earth.

Papuan youth leader, Kevin Baldwin Aburyaan said that this activity was also an effort to introduce the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building in which there are various facilities for the self-development of young Papuans and there is a place for religious events.

Papuan youth express their gratitude to President Joko Widodo and BIN Chief General Pol (Purn) Budi Gunawan for all the support given to the Papuan people, especially young people in Bumi Cenderawasih.

From the attitude taken by the young Papuan generation, we can see that the Papuan people, especially the young Papuan generation, have felt the presence of the Government in Cenderawasih. They have felt and seen that Papua is partof Indonesia.
