After the IMF – World Bank Summit, Indonesia once again hosted the Our Ocean Conference International Meeting
CIDDIS. Indonesia has the confidence to host again at the International meeting, after the annual IMF meeting – the World Bank, Indonesia is preparing to hold the Our Ocean Conference (OOC) event in 2018, in Bali on 29-30 October 2018. This is the OOC 5 of the world, where the first host is the United States (US), this activity will be attended by world maritime leaders, heads of state, NGO activists and delegates from dozens of countries.
This time the OCC took the theme ‘Our Ocean Our Legacy’. During the OCC implementation, there were six main issues discussed. Namely the matter of watershed conservation, climate change, sustainable fisheries, sea pollution, sustainable water economy and marine security. The conference which will be attended by 1900 delegates this year, among 7 heads of state (6 presidents and 1 vice president), including ministers from various countries.
President Jokowi held a limited meeting to discuss the final preparations of the OOC at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Monday (22/18). The president reminded that Indonesia’s success in holding international events was the key to increasing world trust while at the same time demonstrating that Indonesia is a big country. build a trust from the international world that we must keep. Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti said 36 ministers who were ready to attend were likely to add more because Marshall Island had just confirmed that the president was present, meaning that his minister might be present. “There are 200 civil society, such as WWF and many other community organizations,” said Susi at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Monday (10/22) afternoon.
The conference, according to Susi, will prioritize to discuss the issue of Marine Conservation Area which is already committed by many countries, then plastic degrease parts, marine pollution, maritime security, climate change, then sustainable fisheries or sustainable fisheries.
