Appreciating the President Revoking Attachments to the Presidential Decree on Alcohol Industry Investment

President Jokowi’s annulment of the Presidential Decree, which is a derivative regulation of the Job Creation Law, was revoked by President Jokowi. The community was relieved that the rule was finally repealed, because there was no legalization of the liquor industry in Indonesia. Liquors like beer and vodka have a lot of bad effects, because when a person gets drunk he gets out of control and does a lot of negative things.
Presidential regulation number 20 of 2021 concerning the investment business sector has shocked the public, because there is an attachment regarding investment in the alcoholic industry. People think there will be legalization of alcohol in Indonesia. Even though the regulations are, this industry can only exist in the areas of Bali, Papua, NTT, and North Sulawesi, and prioritizes local wisdom.
President Jokowi finally abolished this rule. He gave a statement on the Presidential Secretariat Youtube account and stated that the attachment to the Presidential Decree regarding the opening of new investments in the liquor industry containing alcohol was revoked. This decision was taken after input from the ulama in Indonesia.
The revocation of the Presidential Regulation attachment finally made the public relieved, because investment in the liquor industry was not allowed in Indonesia. Since long ago, alcohol was prohibited from circulating in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia and there should be no legalization of the brewing factory. Because there are so many effects of alcohol that can damage a person physically and mentally.
If a person is drunk every day it will have a negative impact on his body, because there will be organ damage, from the liver to other internal organs. When you are young, you may not see the effect, but you will see when you are old.
Then, if someone is very drunk, it will also have an impact on their psychology. He can’t think clearly and is easily offended. Then do many negative things, such as getting angry uncontrollably to throw things, and even punching your own friends. Alcohol is a source of various crimes, because it can influence drunk people to act out of bounds.
We still remember when someone shot several people in a cafe. It turned out that he was very drunk and offended when he was charged a bill worth millions of rupiah. When emotional, he finally got out of control and then lost the lives of innocent people. This incident would not have happened when he did not dare to drink in a cafe, which also violated the PSBB.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD stated that the withdrawal of the regulation on alcohol investment shows that the government is not allergic to criticism. Because criticism from the people is a vitamin for the government. In that sense, President Jokowi’s government upholds democracy and is not authoritarian.
The public was relieved that the President carried out his promise to lead Indonesia well and uphold the principle of justice. When the voice of the people is heard, a president is called a just leader. Because they are willing to accept input and do not act and hurt a lot of people.
President Jokowi’s action to remove alcohol investment regulations has made investors from the Middle East trust Indonesia. Because the people and the government are religious and avoid alcoholic drinks. This means that all Indonesian citizens do not want to violate the rules of the country and their religion.
When they find out that there is no alcohol industry in this country, they will want to build new factories and invest their capital. So that the Indonesian economy will improve, because there is an injection of funds from foreign investors. We will survive the recession and the threat of the monetary crisis.
The lifting of the policy on investing in alcohol in Indonesia made the public happy because the President was willing to listen to suggestions from ulama and especially the common people. So that democracy in Indonesia is carried out well. Liquor damages a person physically and psychologically, so there is no legalization of the alcoholic industry in this country.
