Bearing the Khilafah ideology, Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia was rejected in almost twenty countries, including Indonesia. The idea of upholding the Caliphate is only considered as a utopian idea that is difficult to realize, including in Muslim-majority countries.
Most of the Indonesian people reject the understanding of the khilafah carried by Ormas HTI (Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia). Actually it is not the wrong concept of khilafah teachings. Remember, this understanding is part of the great history of Muslims that can not be forgotten. Especially with regard to the great Prophet of the Muslim lord. However, at issue is the application in our beloved country, Indonesia. Because the archipelago is a Republican state and not an Islamic state. In addition, our country consists of various tribes, races, religions, groups that have all the differences that each citizen brings.
Not denying the virtue of understanding the khilafah which is considered to be able to improve the Indonesian government system. However, everything must be carefully thought out. Moreover, those who agree with this understanding are few. It is impossible to change views and state administration just for the sake of a handful of residents and put aside other parties. Moreover, HTI also mentioned, the organizations supporting the Khilafah experienced resistance in almost 20 countries or more. Then, understand which khilafah they are touting?
Although this organization has been disbanded, but until now it still echoes the understanding it embraces. Not only voicing it in the form of action, but also campaigning on social media which incidentally almost all Indonesian citizens are users. In fact, the latest news, the movement to support this understanding is trending topics and reaping polemic.
According to (former) Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security, At the moment, organizations which are keen to make khilafah propaganda are ISIS groups and HTI. However, according to a survey conducted by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting known as SMRC, there are around 9.2 percent of Indonesian respondents who agree that this understanding is applied to the government system in the Republic of Indonesia. The number jumped when respondents found out about HTI to 11.2 percent. However, it also does not deny that those who refuse are still far greater. Although the figure is considered small, it is also worth watching out for. In addition to being ambiguous many were also considered not to know clearly the concept of the exalted caliphate.
In Indonesia itself, the relationship between political Islam and the state has been a unique linkage due to a compromise. This is reflected in the effort to clash political Islam with the state precisely experiencing a deadlock. From Sukarno’s leadership to Suharto, political parties based on Islam were seen as potential forces to destroy a nationalist state. Thus, that is the reason that makes the government keep a distance from Islamic parties.
If seen from the incident, the HTI movement and pro-Khilafah activists who want to make Indonesia as a Khilafah state will certainly experience difficulties. Because, Indonesian people already have the Pancasila conception as the foundation of the nation’s ideology. Which, its application is in accordance with Islam. As well as the five precepts, no one can lead to the teachings of shirk or the tagging. Thus, understanding HTI is considered quite excessive.
On the other hand, they also have to deal with two leaders of Islamic organizations such as NU and Muhammadiyah, who also consider the application of this understanding to be inappropriate. Moreover, the history of the khilafah carried by HTI and its supporting activists still seems gray. Until raises a variety of questions, which period is related to the understanding of this caliphate to form Indonesia.
From this, it can be concluded that this understanding is very unlikely to be applied in Indonesia. Because the foundation of the Pancasila and the slogan of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia has ingrained. In addition, Pancasila is also able to embrace the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia because the system adopted can make the country based on the similarity of the nation and history not about the equality of religion.
Therefore, it is necessary to review in detail and good, if you want to fix the state order is not by changing the ideological concept, but by building the mindset and mentality of the most basic citizens. If this is successfully implemented, it is not impossible that the ideals of peace and prosperity will soon be realized. Let’s open our eyes together so everything looks clearer and clearer. So that no fatal mistakes are taken in an emotional state. It is appropriate that the Pancasila Ideology be understood and understood by all Indonesian people. Because, not only includes complex state administration, but also touches the bottom line.
