The history of Papua is inseparable from Indonesia’s past. Papua is an island located north of the Australian continent, a part of Indonesia. Most of Papua’s land is still forested, Papua is the second largest island in the world after Greenland. About 47% of the island of Papua is part of Indonesia, which is known as the Netherlands New Guinea, West Irian, West Irian, and Irian Jaya, and recently known as Papua. The other part of the island is the territory of the state of Papua New Guinea (Papua New Guinea), which is a former British colony. The population of the population between the two countries actually has an ethnic kinship, but then separated by a border line.
European explorers who first came to Papua, referred to the locals as Melanesians. The origin of the word Melanesia comes from the Greek word, ‘Mela’ which means ‘black’, because their skin is dark in color. Then the nations in Southeast Asia and also the Portuguese who interacted closely with the people of Papua, called them Papuans.
Based on these pieces of facts, it is implied that Papua has long been a part of Indonesia. The question is why this must be fussed. No matter how noisy we are right now, it cannot change the history that has already taken place and is recorded in everyone’s heads. Indonesia and Papua are an inseparable unit. For Indonesia, Papua is valuable jewelry that cannot be bought at any price.
To that end, let us ponder together, what are we actually making about the independence of Papua. Papua has been independent for a long time, since it was separated from the Dutch and became part of Indonesia. Being independent does not mean having to form its own country, but rather having a prosperous condition and free from the colony of any party. In bersaudaha, conflict will always exist.
