The Central Government and the Papua Provincial Government continue to ensure the readiness of the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua. A number of parties also believe that the implementation of PON XX will run smoothly according to the agenda.
In less than 10 months the XX National Sports Week (PON) event in Papua will take place. Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali gave instructions to government agencies to become a means of socialization. A number of preparations continue to speed up.
Zainudin said that the PON’s interest could be felt throughout Indonesia, other regions, especially in government agencies at the TNI-Polri Office, getting an appeal from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to participate in campaigning for PON XX Papua.
He also said his belief that Papua would be able to hold a PON 2020. He said venue preparations had reached 85 percent. The minister from Gorontalo also claimed to have seen the preparation of the venue construction directly.
After his monitoring, he also plans to meet with Papua Governor Lukas Enembe to confirm the rejection of 10 sports that were dropped to be held in East Java.
In addition, Zainudin also continued to boost readiness, including asking his staff to work in Papua for a while. He wants his staff from echelon II to have an office there to accelerate all preparations for both the venue and accommodation for the contingent of athletes and coaches of the PON XX.
Meanwhile, the PON Executive Board (PN) is optimistic, the 4 annual event will be crowded with spectators. He said he would do a variety of ways to achieve this.
Various preparations are encouraged to succeed the multi-event, both from the construction of venues which are expected to be on time, security, transportation, to athlete and official accommodation.
In the process and progress during preparation naturally raises classic questions about the audience. KONI Pusat was worried that venues with large capacity would be quiet. One of them, Stadon Bangkit Papua which has a capacity of 40 thousand spectators. While the population in Papua is relatively small, namely 3,322,526 people.

Indonesia’s success in organizing the 2018 Asian Games became a reference for the KONI Center in implementing PON 2020 in Papua. So, consumption will also be made with similar quality.
Chairperson of KONI Center Marciano Norman said, besides transportation and accommodation, another important factor that must be considered by PB was consumption readiness.
As an illustration during the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, the organizing committee provided food from 05.00 to 01.00 in the morning. The food served is not only typical of the archipelago, but from various countries. PON might not be too varied, but at least on time and clean.
Marciano revealed, consumption matters become very important and must arrive on time and in good condition. Not allowed to arrive late let alone the food until it is not suitable to eat because the conditions are already stale.
To anticipate this, PB PON will use the consumption menu used at the Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games held in 2018 and in addition, there are also those who use consumption in their respective regions.
With proper consumption, Marciano hopes that the health problems of athletes and officials will be more secure.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo also placed great attention on the success of the national sports event through Presidential Instruction Number 10 of 2017 concerning the support of organizing the XX National Sports Week and XVI National Paralympic Year 2020 in Papua Province to support the smooth PON XX in Cenderawasih Earth, as a manifestation that the government Indonesia is serious and committed to advancing Papua in all fields.
Of course with the PON XX event, it is an event for the Papua Province to show the world that Papua is a peaceful, safe and advanced land within the framework of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. With the multievent, it is hoped that the international community will judge that Papua is a developed and powerful region without riots.
PON XX in Papua is a proof that the government put trust in Papua to rise, especially with the infrastructure built, so that it is hoped that these facilities can be reused by the people of Papua.
