A number of demonstrations have recently taken place after the DPR passed the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation Law. However, it turns out that only a few of the public really know the contents of the law. Indometer survey findings show that very few people hear or know about the omnibus law. Only 31.2 percent of the public knows, most as much as 68.8 percent admit they don’t know at all. In fact, all parties who know the law have agreed with the Omnibus Law.

It should be underlined that the demonstration which aims to reject the application of the Omnibus Law is a mass that is set to take action against. This can be seen from the survey results that the community agrees that the Omnibus Law has a positive impact on all parties. Confusion of information has resulted in many hoax accusations of the contents of the omnibus law in circulation.

The Job Creation Law is the first package in a series of omnibus laws initiated by President Jokowi. The main objective is to simplify regulations, in which changes to dozens of laws are carried out at once, not one by one. Among those who agreed, the main reason was that the omnibus law could create jobs (75.4 percent), only 13.4 percent disagreed, and 11.3 percent didn’t know / didn’t answer, “said Leonard. The Omnibus Law of the Job Creation Law is motivated by the situation of the American and Chinese trade war, in which Indonesia is considered unsuccessful in reaping the benefits to attract investment. Plus the pandemic factor, where there are many layoffs, the need for omnibus laws is getting bigger. With the current economic conditions, it is natural for the government to compile an Omnibus Law to improve economic growth. If the government does not do anything, the economy will decline further and the welfare of the people will also decline. Omnibus Law is the government’s effort not to remain silent seeing the weakening economy and concern for the welfare of the community. Therefore, all are expected to be able to support the Omnibus Law so that its implementation can be maximized, so that the positive impact given to Indonesia’s economic progress is maximized.
