The government is trying to simplify existing regulations through the Omnibus Law scheme. The regulation is believed to build a better investment ecosystem for the progress of the nation.
The existence of a plan related to the Omnibus Law seems to be a breath of fresh air for the Indonesian economic sector. Of course all parties need to provide full support for the policies taken by the government for the progress of the nation.
In addition, the existence of the Omnibus Law can further encourage the progress and development of investment in the region, so that regions in Indonesia will experience rapid progress.
Omnibus Law is also suspected to be able to simplify overlapping regulations. Despite protests from some parties, the government will still enforce the policy, the article of the Omnibus Law scheme is considered as a way out of overlapping rules and the complexity of regulations in Indonesia. In addition, the Omnibus Law will also be a legal umbrella for all applicable regulations.
On different occasions, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI) Sugiharto stated, Indonesia’s economic challenges in the coming years are indeed quite large. Because according to him, affirmative action is needed to accelerate Indonesia’s economic growth.
Sugiharto also appreciated the government’s steps related to the Omnibus Law policy. According to him, Omnibus Law can trigger economic growth potential in the form of job opportunities.
In addition, the Omnibus Law can also make the tax system transformation more conducive. Mainly, against the challenges of the era, industry 4.0 is full of uncertainty.
ICMI also urged that the policy on the Omnibus Law be accelerated immediately, because if it is too late the demographic bonus could have an impact on the social tsunami.
The need to support the publication of the Omnibus Law also came from senior economist Habibie Center Umar Juworo, where he considered that the efforts made by the government as outlined in the Omnibus Law Bill were a form of welfare protection for workers in Indonesia.
He considered that the bill aims to adjust labor regulations with investment and economic developments that are good for employers and also labor.
In the Omnibus Law Draft relating to Employment Creation, a special scheme is also being prepared which will allow further wages for workers who become layoffs.
The Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartanto said, in the discussion on employment creation, a new scheme was being prepared in the field of employment related to unemployment benefits. Where it is a facility for those affected by termination of employment.
He said that the government had also prepared facilities such as job loss guarantees and these had been included in the BPJS Employment facility. That is, for those who lost their jobs due to the closure of the company, the Social Security will immediately make cash benefits.
Previously, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning / National Defense Agency (ATR / BPN) ensured that Omnibus Law’s creation of akam employment opportunities made it easier for land issues for investment.
Matters relating to land are in 4 clusters. Secretary General of the ATR / BPN Ministry Himawan Arief emphasized that most of the revisions were taken from the revision of the Land Law.
Last year the government also formally established the Omnibus Law Task Force, chaired by the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) RoslanP. Roeslani.
The Omnibus Law Task Force has the duty to review the Draft Bill and Law to be eliminated and provide input to the government in the formulation and implementation of the Omnibus Law.
There is no sugar, there are no ants, it has recently been circulated that the Omnibus Law bill made by the government to collide with foreigners, especially China. That, immediately get a rebuttal from Mahfud MD as Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and security.
The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court considered, the public certainly should not be wrong in assessing the Omnibus Law Bill which is now being deliberated by the government and the Parliament. Because, the Omnibus Law itself is created to create jobs so that it can bring investment into the country.
Mahfud also likens Omnibus Law as a public transportation. Where the vehicle can carry many passengers with the same destination.
With the Omnibus Law, it is not impossible that Indonesia will experience rapid progress, the workers will not be afraid of their welfare, and investors will not be overshadowed by complicated regulations.
