The Government is Optimistic that Papua PON XX is Running Smoothly

Various preparations ahead of the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua continue to speed up. The government is optimistic that the PON will run smoothly because all stakeholders are committed to making the event a success.
The Central Government together with the Provincial Government of Papua continue to coordinate in preparation for the PON XX to run smoothly. The government continues to accelerate various unfinished works related to preparations for the holding of PON XX in Papua. XX PON 2020 will be held in Papua from 20 October to 2 November. The opening and closing of the PON is planned to be held at the Bangkit Papua Stadium.
Minister of Youth and Sports Zainuddin Amali is optimistic that the holding of the XX National Sports Week (PON) and the XVI National Paralympics Week (Peparnas) 2020 planned to be carried out in Papua is going well. This attitude was conveyed after a joint meeting in the DPR with the Minister of the Interior Tito Karnavian, BIN, TNI and Polri.
The Central Government, Ministries / Institutions, and Regional Governments work together to accelerate things that are still lacking. The choice of location for PON implementation in Papua can bring the spirit of Indonesian unity. The implementation of PON is not just a successful sporting achievement, but how can the unification or balance between the western and eastern regions be realized soon for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
The DPR requests the Central Government and the Papua Provincial Government to succeed the PON and Peparnas (National Paralympics Week) 2020 in Papua. Success is meant in the form of administration, administration and achievement. From the results of a joint meeting between the government and Commission I, Commission II, Commission III, and Commission X. The DPR concluded that the Government of Indonesia is committed to the success of the implementation of the XXth PON and the 16th Peparnas in 2020 in Papua Province including successful administration, successful implementation and success achievement.
The House of Representatives also urged the Central Government and the Provincial Government of Papua to succeed the PON and Peparnas especially in terms of security. Not only that, the central government and the Papua Provincial Government are urged to succeed in completing infrastructure development, and the availability of accommodation.
On the other hand, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendi, surveyed a number of PON XX Papua venues, in the Mimika Cluster. During the two-hour visit, the Coordinating Minister for PMK was accompanied by Deputy Chairman I of the Indonesian Military Association Major General (Retired) Suwarno, Secretary of the Papua Province TA Hery Dosinaen, Deputy Regent of Mimika Johannes Rettob. In general Papua is ready to hold PON XX, it’s just that some venues are still under construction so it is expected to be resolved soon.
PON XX Papua will be attended by 6,200 athletes, plus officials are estimated to have around 12,200 attendees. This figure does not include the match, the referee board, and other supporting staff. For the aspect of transportation, PB PON Papua provides free transportation while the athletes are in Papua. In addition, 600 DAMRI buses of various sizes have been prepared to support the mobilization of XX PON participants.
The Governor of Papua has high hopes in implementing PON XX. The first hope is to be able to strengthen national brotherhood from Sabang to Merauke. Second, residents of other regions who come to Papua do not need to worry or feel afraid. Third, the success of PON Papua can also be a mirror in the success of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia.
