Jakarta – The working visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to China which began this week further strengthens diplomatic relations between the two countries and reinforces Indonesia’s commitment to realizing the government’s priority programs. President Prabowo’s first step in this foreign visit brings positive impacts, not only in the field of diplomacy but also in supporting the national development agenda, particularly related to fulfilling the nutrition of Indonesian children.

Chinese President Xi Jinping highly appreciates President Prabowo’s decision to make China the first country he visited in his new capacity as president. According to him, this emphasizes the importance of the relationship between the two countries.

“Appreciation should be given to President Prabowo for making China the first country he visited in his new capacity as president. This step affirms the importance of China’s relationship with Indonesia,” Xi Jinping said in his official statement.

The visit also received special attention from various parties. Professor of International Relations at the University of Indonesia (UI), Fredy Buhama Lumban Tobing, assessed that President Prabowo’s decision to visit China as the first friendly country illustrates China’s recognition of Indonesia’s position on the world’s geopolitical map.

“It’s interesting because China is the first friendly country visited by Mr. Prabowo as the 8th President of Indonesia. The Chinese government’s invitation is a form of China’s recognition of Prabowo as the President of Indonesia. Prabowo’s visit also indicates that China has an important and strategic position for Indonesia in the world’s geopolitical map going forward,” he said.

In addition to diplomatic aspects, this visit also brings tangible results for the welfare of the Indonesian people. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said that the Chinese government has agreed to support the funding of the “Free Nutritious Meal” program launched by President Prabowo Subianto.

“The Chinese government will support the funding of the Free Nutritious Meal program launched by President Prabowo Subianto. This financial support is a result of Prabowo’s visit to China,” said Airlangga Hartarto in a press conference after the agreement signing.

One of the important agreements resulting from this visit is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian and Chinese governments regarding funding for the “Food Supplementation and School Feeding Programme in Indonesia”. The agreement was announced in a signing ceremony witnessed directly by President Prabowo and President Xi Jinping.

President Prabowo’s visit to China further affirms Indonesia’s commitment to expanding international cooperation, particularly in supporting the development of social and economic sectors, as well as improving the quality of life of the Indonesian people. China, as a strategic partner, is expected to continue playing an active role in supporting President Prabowo’s priority programs going forward.
