Jakarta – The government continues to give various forms of serious attention to the employment sector, such as efforts to reduce unemployment and relieve the victims of employment termination. (PHK).
The head of the Population Research Centre (PRK) of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Nawawi, explained that various government policies have been so good that the national economic resilience continues to survive in the midst of the global crisis.
Including, how the government’s attention to the victims of PHK, is by giving a lot of policies like ease of effort.
“Various government policies ensure that those who are high-profile in sectors currently heavily affected by the global crisis can be given an opportunity to enter a sector that is still stable,” Nawawi said.
“For example, the facility is trying for UMKM which is expected to be a kind of bumper to tackle unemployment in Indonesia because this UMKM sector is easy come easy go,” he added.
Irresponsibly, even the head of the BRIN PRK explained that the government has given special policies for the labour force, including to improve their skills.
“Indonesian workers can be given an opportunity to rise, there must be special policies,” he said.
“Another policy such as increasing the national workforce capacity so that he has gained on himself to be more able to sell and offer his skills automatically he can find opportunities in other sectors of employment that are still growing,” added Nawawi.
The government’s fiscal and monetary policy, according to the Chief of the BRIN PRK, is very good because it has been proven to keep the absorption of labor optimal.
“In addition, fiscal and monetary support is linked to government efforts for work-intensive programmes that will surely absorb labour to engage in economic activities,” he said.
“For example, the construction sector, infrastructure is very needed because it can absorb so much workforce that it can block the number of unemployment in Indonesia,” said Nawawi.
Regarding the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector, the head of the BRIN PRK judged that strong support from the government from all sides was crucial in order to enable them to flourish.
“UMKM is important to continue to get support from the government, either in its development or in the context of its business, its skills, its market or other contexts that support UMKM Indonesia can grow,” she said.
Well, when it comes to UMKM, according to Nawawi, it’s not just about talking about the perpetrator, but also about developing the ecosystem that makes them more competitive.
“Speak to UMKM, not just to the perpetrators, but to the ecosystem that enables them to compete and thrive,” he said.
One of the important things, is to pay full attention and support how the birth of innovation in the UMKM sector to increase their sales value.
“Innovation becomes important in the context of UMKM, because with it they can increasingly increase their sales value,” said the head of PRK BRIN. (*)
