Maintaining Unity and Integrity, the Community Must Accept the Constitutional Court’s Decision on Election Disputes
The entire community must accept the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) dispute. Because with an open minded attitude in allowing this decision, it is the same as being actively involved in maintaining the unity and integrity of the nation.
Of course, it is an obligation for all elements of the nation, all people in the country, to continue to maintain unity within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). As a people, we are able to take various steps, one of which is to continue to comply with applicable laws.
In the context of the post-implementation of the democratic party and political contestation in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) which has been taking place some time ago, the public should be able to accept the Constitutional Court’s decision in the election trial dispute so as to create stability and a sense of unity and oneness between citizens.
The Constitutional Court has officially decided to reject all petitions from the presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate (Capres-Cawapres) serial number 01 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, as well as the petition from serial number 03 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD in the dispute hearing on the results of the 2024 presidential election. .
The Constitutional Court stated emphatically that the petition from the applicant was completely unreasonable according to the law as a whole. The arguments for their application include, among other things, the non-neutrality of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) and the DKPP.
Not only that, but there is another argument, namely regarding the alleged use of abuse of power by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) by using the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) in the form of distributing social assistance funds (bansos) which seems to influence General Election results.
Another argument, namely the issue of abuse of power by the Central Government, Regional Government (Pemda) and also Village Governments in the form of providing support with the aim of winning the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair from serial number 02, namely Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
This also includes the applicant’s argument which states that it seems as though there was nepotism by the Head of State to win candidate pair (Paslon) serial number 02 in just one round. In fact, all of the applicant’s arguments are completely groundless according to law.
Also responding to the results of the Constitutional Court’s decision, the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI), Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) asked all elements of the nation to respect and comply with any decision regarding the election dispute trial which is final and binding.
Now is the time for all parties to fully support the change in Indonesia’s leadership as a result of the valid General Election, so that in the future the future leader can continue various development programs in the era of President Jokowi’s government so far.
Moreover, all legal stages have also proceeded in accordance with existing regulations, namely that the state has provided a very open space for any party who is still not satisfied enough with the results of the democratic party to submit a request so that it can become a dispute in the Constitutional Court.
Meanwhile, all stages of the process in accordance with applicable law have also been carried out and the final decision of the Constitutional Court has been issued rejecting all claims from the applicant. So now is the time for all communities to join hands again and be able to work together to build the nation together.
There is no longer a need for mass mobilization, and for the party who loses in a political contest, this is actually a very normal thing so defeat should be accepted gracefully. Then wisely, the winning party must be able to embrace it.
Currently, the time to compete in the five-year electoral contest is over and now is the time for all parties to be able to compete again. Reconciliation between various parties is very important, especially after the current election.
There should no longer be a society divided according to their political support or voice, whether from camps 01. 02 or 03. The existence of national unity and integrity must clearly continue to be prioritized above all interests, both personal and group.
The competition in the presidential election has been completely completed. The Constitutional Court itself has also given its decision regarding the dispute in the 2024 presidential election results dispute trial.
The next homework for all elements of the nation at this time is to practice the third principle of the basic state philosophy of Pancasila, namely upholding the unity of Indonesia. Therefore, the entire community must be able to unite again in building synergy and strength for the progress of the nation and state.
Maintaining unity and unity in society in the post-2024 election context, namely by accepting with grace the Constitutional Court’s decision regarding the presidential election dispute trial.
