CIDISS – Lamandau regency is one of succeed regency in rice self-sufficient. Government admit this succeed by giving predicate as region with keep the rice self-sufficient.

Regent of Lamandau, Ir Marukan M.AP, said that many challenges in increasing the rice self-sufficient, which are; climate change that influence to production capability, convert the land from farmland into non-agriculture and commercial, and less in consuming local rice.

The other challenges is; the less of interest from young generation toward developing the agriculture technology innovation which able to create new model of agriculture technology in producing well manufacture product and good quality.

That challenges will have any potency in create a problem in the process of implementation food availability, food self-sufficient conservation, and case of mal nutrition and food danger, both in the family level until in remote area.

Marukan explain, in the food self-sufficient, all party should work together in accelerating the development, care to every single family in fulfill the food need, try best to use natural resource around us in increasing the food self – sufficient, and conducting many innovation to create food product on the local food basis.

Based on data in Central Kalimantan province, dependence level of people with rice is quite high. It proof by the rice consume per capita per year is about 121.76 kg, higher than global rice consumption standard in 60 kg.

If observe the people consumption schedule, then, many people is not consume food with various things, nutrition, balance and save.

It is also in consuming of vegetables and fruits, it is quite low where the level of consume is only on 30 – 45 kg/per capita per year, lower than global standard by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on 67 kg.
