The lack of continuation regarding the implementation of the OPM Anniversary on 1 December is evidence that the Separatist organization was indeed denied its existence. Remember, they only bring unrest, misery and intimidation.
The failure of the implementation of the OPM Anniversary provides evidence that the separatist organization sheltering in the name of Free Papua is rejected! Not without reason, because OPM is considered to have caused a lot of anxiety and threatens the peace and security of Papuans. They often do mischief, and do not hesitate to persecute residents if the desire to separate themselves from the Unitary Republic of Indonesia is not supported.
So that residents, especially in the area of Papua, are aggressively giving rejection and resistance to this separatist organization. They do not want the lives they lead to be disturbed and intimidated by groups who do not make any contribution to the welfare of the people of Papua.
OPM’s role as a Papuan extremist front often leaves people dead. This OPM treatment is indeed quite cruel and sadistic. Nevertheless, the government also did not remain silent. The deployment of hundreds to thousands of personnel at vulnerable points is proof that the government is taking part in efforts to fight this separatist group. The TNI, in collaboration with the National Police, gathered strength to reduce the aggression of the OPM. Including conducting a number of investigations for the purposes of investigation and security.
One of the most recent achievements of the TNI / Polri is the success in apprehending an OPM official named Iris Murib. Iris, popularly known as the executor, is known for being sadistic and inhuman. The statement was further reinforced by the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Police Public Relations Division, Senior Commissioner Asep Adi Saputra, who stated that on 1 December there were no celebratory activities. Meanwhile, Karopenmas Divhumas National Police Brigadier General Argo Yuwono said on November 22, ahead of December 1, intelligence was assigned to map the vulnerability of each region over the issue of the OPM Anniversary.
Many parties stated very firmly that December 1 was not OPM’s birthday. Although it is still closely related to efforts to liberate Papua from the archipelago. This statement was made by a spokesman for the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM), namely Sebby Sambom. He considered December 1, the day when Papuan leaders and the Dutch government announced the country’s embryo. Meanwhile, the OPM separatist group is fighting for that recognition.
Whatever the reason, it is not justified to celebrate. Besides causing noise or confusion. This celebration will trigger unwanted actions. Those who are “allowed” to celebrate will assume that the Indonesian government agrees what they want so far, which is to be separated from the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. Is not this clearly cross with the independence of Indonesia. Which says Papua is part of the motherland until whenever.
The clarity of the position of Papua has been recognized de facto and de jure. Not only by the people of Indonesia, even the international community also recognizes this validity. Moreover, Papuans have chosen to remain under the auspices of the Red and White. They feel calm, comfort, security in Indonesia. Including the welfare of development that they have wanted. It is not impossible if the OPM Anniversary warning is carried out, it will even lead to Civil Disorder, given the OPM’s insistence on continuing to free itself from the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. Then what are they really looking for? If only the citizens do not want this disintegration effort which is considered detrimental? Whatever it is, the anniversary of OPM does not have to be commemorated!
