The XXth National Sports Week (PON) and XVI National Paralympics Week ( Peparnas ) in Papua will be attended by a number of heads of state and ambassadors. The activity will be held from 20 October to 2 November 2020. To ensure the security of the event and invited guests in attendance, a number of preparations have d i do, including mapping the potential vulnerability in Papua. This was taken to ensure that the national sporting party will run safely and conducive.
The government continues to prepare the PON XX release in Papua, not least from the security aspect. Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan said that besides conducting hazard mapping, BIN had carried out preventive operations by cutting off all forms of potential that could disrupt security during the holding of PON XX in Papua.
Detection activities and other potential vulnerabilities continue to be carried out by BIN as part of a joint operation in order to prevent them from becoming a real disturbance . The joint operation was a collaboration between BIN and the TNI-Polri to maintain the security of Papua ahead of the PON and Peparnas which was carried out with an open and closed security pattern. According to the Head of BIN, up to now and the future predictions of security we can guard and of course there are patterns of security systems both open and closed, including clerks that we do because there are visits from the presence of several heads of state, especially in Asian countries- Passive k.
On the other hand, the TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said TNI will strengthen the security of four venues implementation of National Sports Week (PON) XX 2020 in Papua. The TNI is also ready to guarantee security for the success of the PON 2020 by increasing the number of troops in several places, especially in four venues namely in Jayapura Regency, Jayapura City, Mimika Regency and Merauke Regency as the venue for the event. In the leadership meeting , the Indonesian National Police and Bin will finalize the security readiness plan ahead of the implementation of the 2020 PON in Papua. The Indonesian National Armed Forces together with the National Police and BIN believe that the implementation of the PON can run well without any obstacles.
TNI also will do anticipate in the event of heavy rains resulting in floods, landslides and including potential droughts like BMKG . Therefore, the TNI has prepared by strengthening the Disaster Management Rapid Reaction Force (PRCPB) so that they are more optimal in carrying out tasks in two trouble spots in accordance with the provisions of the defense equipment that the TNI has in cooperation with BNPB .
These security activities have received support from the DPR. DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said the DPR supported BIN and the TNI-Polri to maintain Papuan security when the PON and Peparnas were held. The DPR supports all steps taken by BIN and the TNI-Polri to guarantee security in Papua province, especially in the districts / cities that are organizing the event.
According to the Speaker of the DPR, PON and Pepernas 2020 in Papua are strategic steps to safeguard the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. Through sports competitions , the DPR is committed to balancing East and West Indonesia. The event was not just a successful sports achievement but how then the unification or balance between the western and eastern regions could later be realized for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia .
