President Joko Widodo Addressed Parliament Annual Meeting

JOKOWI: World Owed To PalestinePresident Joko Widodo, Friday, August 14, delivers a state address before the plenary meeting of the Council of Representatives (MPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD) and Parliament (DPR) at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta.

The fifth Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri and former President BJ Habibie attended the session. Megawati arrived in front of the parliament building at 7:22 am.

470 out of 680 members of the MPR attended the plenary meeting on Friday. MPR chairman Zulkifli Hasan opened the session at 8 am, saying the number of members present is considered a quorum for the meeting to continue.

Zulkifli also expressed his appreciation to President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla, who agreed to attend the hearing. “Thanks to the President and Vice President, as well as the heads of state institutions,” he said.

He said that the Annual Session in 2015 was more solemn because it was held in commemoration of 70 years of independence, so that the spirit of the proclamation must continue to be nurtured to build the country.
