The OPM (Free Papua Organization) and KST (Separatist and Terrorist Groups) troops were repulsed by the TNI, in the Yahukimo area, Papua. This success makes the community relieved, so it is hoped that Papua will return to peace.
So far, security in Papua has been slightly disturbed by KST, which is an accomplice of the OPM.
They deliberately attacked both civilians and officials, with the aim of showing strength and fighting for the referendum. In fact, what they are fighting for is a big mistake, because the Papuan people themselves do not want to be invited to defect and create a federal republic of West Papua.
To eradicate KST, there is a special force called the Nemangkawi Task Force assigned to eradicate them. On November 27, 2021, the Nemangkawi Task Force managed to arrest KST frontman Demius Magayang alias Temius Magayang on Jalan Gunung Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency.
The Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police, Kombes Pol. Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, stated that Demius Magayang was the KST operations commander for the XVI Kodap Yahukimo area and was on the wanted list for being involved in a series of murder cases in the Dekai area, Yahukimo.
Kombes Pol Ahmad Musthofa continued, one of the cases involving Demius Magayang was the murder of 2 members of the Pamrahwan 432/SWJ task force. Demius was also involved in the killings on the airport road on May 18, 2021, attacks on police officers and injured victims, and many other cases.
When Demius Magayang was arrested, evidence was found in the form of homemade firearms, 8 rounds of ammunition, handy talkies (HT), wallets, knives, necklaces, and cigarettes. From this evidence, it can be traced and finally carried out an investigation and investigation. It was also discovered that KST had an operating system because it had a handy talkie and from there it could be traced which other HT was being held by other KST members.
The success of the Nemangkawi Task Force in repelling KST and OPM troops is a great achievement. The reason is, ahead of the OPM’s birthday, they did go down the mountain and always rioted and ended up in a bloody event. However, the Nemangkawi Task Force managed to arrest the KST frontman and prevent the next murder.
When Demius Magayang is caught alive then he can be interrogated and eventually get information, for example where is the next KST headquarters? The reason is, there are many KST headquarters and they are hidden, because they are used to guerrillas in the forests and mountains. If a KST leader is caught, he can become an informant, and the Nemangkawi Task Force will attack their headquarters.
Demius can also be interrogated how did he get his hands on a homemade firearm? Whereas in Indonesia, civilians are not allowed to hold pistols or other types of firearms, because they violate the law. If he has firearms, of course, they come from the black market and it can be traced who sold them, and the black market for weapons can be completely dismantled, because supplying weapons to terrorist groups is also against the law.
The agility of the Nemangkawi Task Force was highly praised by the community. This is because KST has crossed the line by shooting not only the officers but also the civilians, even though they are innocent. If there are arrests of KST members by the task force, the community is optimistic that KST will quickly disband.
When the KST leader was caught, the people rejoiced because they were no longer afraid of terror from the separatist group. Civilians also appreciate the hard work of the Nemangkawi Task Force in eradicating KST, so that Papua is more peaceful without OPM and KST. Hopefully all the KST members get caught and they disband on their own.
