He explained that his role as chairman of the session put Indonesia in a strategic position.
“The opening of the IPU in Bali is of course strategic because as the host, Indonesia can play an active role in discussing and proposing solutions to global problems that are currently happening,” said the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Indonesia has a commitment to play an active role in solving global problems. In addition, Indonesia is trying to be a mediator for existing global problems and to become a country that has a strong determination to implement all existing agreements in the future, said Puan.
He hopes that Indonesia can reach a resolution that will be adopted by all parliaments in the world. Of course, this can be a challenge for Indonesia as the host of the 144th IPU in Nusa Dua Bali.
Puan also reported that in the midst of this pandemic situation, the IPU Session will be attended by 115 countries and a delegation of 1000 people. Meanwhile, the chairman of the IPU state parliament who attended was 33 people.
The IPU is a global parliamentary organization founded in 1889, as the world’s first multilateral political organization. The establishment of the IPU is to encourage cooperation and dialogue between all countries.
