The younger generation does have a very, very important role in being able to continue to succeed in holding the democratic election party in 2024. Therefore political literacy should be given to them as well as possible to continue to maintain the conducive climate of democracy in Indonesia.
In order to continue to be able to maintain a climate that is always running in a conducive manner even though dynamics also continue to occur, especially when it is entering a political year like now , the role of youth is indeed very important. How could it not be, the article is estimated that around 70.7% (percent) of the 17 to 39 year old generation have officially voted and should be able to use it properly.
Not only because most of the contestation for the upcoming 2024 Election is dominated by voters from the younger generation, but their role is very important because they are part of a critical society so as to be able to create a climate of democracy in Indonesia that is far more alive.
Therefore, in order to create a democratic climate so that it becomes much more lively, governments from various levels, starting from the central government, regional governments and also city governments, should continue to make efforts to anticipate and observe so that stability among the people can be maintained.
The Head of Domestic Politics at the National Unity and Politics Agency ( Kesbangpol ), Nani Dwiyani , said that the potential for friction would always exist. This is because in every election or Pilkada event it is able to generate dynamics and also a sense of competition. Therefore, it is also important for the community to be able to continue to be encouraged so that they minimize the friction that occurs .
Then, the government has a function to provide facilities in maintaining the implementation of the General Election so that it remains conducive. It is also important to invite all political parties (political parties) so that they can agree in one voice to continue to maintain a good and conducive democratic climate.
Nani added that it is also important for political parties to be able to continue to encourage young people to participate in politics by becoming political cadres and carrying out regeneration. The reason is, if the youth’s desire for politics is not channeled , then they will actually have the potential to channel this desire into criminal channels.
So that the task of political parties is to be able to continue to embrace young people , because young people can facilitate the path of democracy in Indonesia. According to him, there are 2 (two) factors that determine and influence political dynamics in Indonesia, namely the existence of young people who are critical and also political parties who want to embrace young people.
With the large number of young voters who will participate in enlivening the democratic election in 2024, of course there will be a number of challenges such as the spread of hoaxes , disinformation and misinformation which are big problems among young voters.
In responding to these various challenges, the Chairperson of the Yogyakarta KPU, Hamdan Kurniawan, stated that his party had carried out transformations in preparation for the upcoming General Elections, including the use of technology through the use of websites.
It’s not enough to stop there, but the KPU also cooperates with several institutions or educational institutions to collect data on students and students who do participate in the election. He really hopes that these first-time voters can vote more rationally, independently and responsibly so that they are able to knit national and democratic values.
In fact, in order to create a conducive democratic climate, political literacy should be disseminated to everyone , so that it is not just political parties and election contesting candidates , but the public at large can get good political literacy .
The reason is , so far the political literacy that is usually given is only limited to time and also technically. In fact , political literacy should also include voter resistance to intimidation and unhealthy transactional inducements , so that political literacy is indeed very important to be given intelligently and can also be done through social media, not only in conventional ways so that it can reach young people .
Through intelligent political literacy , of course, it can also produce first-time voters who understand their role very well, because these first – time voters actually have a role in being able to oversee the continuity of the election by actively educating those around them about hoaxes that are spreading .
The success of the democratic election in the upcoming 2024 election is something that all elements of society must be able to oversee, including the most important thing is to be able to be escorted by the younger generation because they actually dominate the number of voters who have voting rights for the coming political year.
