The security forces of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) have been very optimal in preventing the possibility of terror occurring during the celebration of Eid al-Adha 2024. This has been achieved by, among other things, arresting terrorists and various other mitigation measures.

Security forces such as the Police, Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) continue to strive to prevent acts of terror, especially during the Eid al-Adha holiday. Of course, the optimal role of the Indonesian security forces in preventing the possibility of terror during the 2024 Eid al-Adha celebration deserves very high appreciation.

The reason is, with optimal terror prevention, the solemn celebration of Eid al-Adha 2024 can be carried out optimally. Not only for the interests of Muslims, but security conduciveness and stability are also very important for the survival of this nation.

The determination of Eid al-Adha 2024 itself falls on Monday, June 17 2024, which is based on the results of the isbat session determining 1 Dzulhijjah 1445 Hijriah which was held on Friday, June 7 2024.

Deputy Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, Saiful Rahmat Dasuki, revealed that the government has agreed that 1 Dzulhijjah 14465 AH falls on Saturday 8 June 2024 AD, so that Eid al-Adha falls on Monday 17 June 2024.

Of course, the implementation of a major celebration such as this holiday can be carried out in a peaceful and conducive manner, without any threat or possibility of interference from any party.

Therefore, the role of the security forces is very important as the main pioneers in safeguarding the security stability of this country, so that Indonesian people can celebrate any holiday, including Eid al-Adha, with much more solemnity.

As a real action from the security forces, the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) succeeded in arresting a perpetrator who works as a porridge trader and is suspected of being affiliated with the ISIS terrorist group in Indonesia.

Without hesitation, the security forces immediately carried out strict law enforcement against one suspect, who was suspected of having an affiliation with the ISIS support group in Karawang, West Java Province (Jabar).

It didn’t stop there, but the authorities also confiscated a number of explosives while arresting a marrow porridge seller with the initials AAR, who was a suspected terrorist with the ISIS network.

Head of the National Police’s Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas), Brigadier General (Brigjen) Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said that the explosives that the security forces managed to confiscate from the house of the AAR suspect were likely to be used later in carrying out acts of terror.

Apart from that, security forces also secured several electronic components which of course the perpetrators would use to carry out this action. For information, it turns out that the AAR suspect is a recidivist who was previously arrested in 2011 and 2018 in connection with terrorism cases.

Meanwhile, the Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), Commissioner General of Police (Komjen Pol) Prof. Dr. H. Rycko Amelza Dahniel expressed his very high appreciation for the arrest of the suspected terrorist in Karawang.

The successful arrest of suspected terrorist perpetrators by security forces means that the preemptive steps taken by officers are very important to be able to determine the steps taken by terror groups.

This arrest is also a sign or concrete manifestation of the professionalism of Densus 88 Anti-Terror Police in ensuring that there are no various forms of acts of terrorism in any case in Indonesia, as well as indicating that the security forces can indeed be relied on.

Recently there has been an increase in terrorist activities such as funding, radicalization, recruitment and also the consolidation of terrorist cells. Moreover, these activities usually target 3 vulnerable groups, namely women, teenagers and children.

With this phenomenon, BNPT has strengthened its commitment in synergizing to carry out terrorist prevention programs in the country. There is synergy with the National Police and also the Indonesian National Army (TNI) to involve the community in order to build citizen resilience.

Resilience against the occurrence of terrorism will be formed if society has knowledge and awareness of how dangerous radicalism and terrorism are if they are neglected and continue.

For this reason, security forces continue to strive to build public awareness and resilience by providing knowledge about what terrorism is, what its characteristics are, and what impact it has on the nation and state.

If the whole community knew all the ins and outs of terrorism, then of course they would reject it. The security forces have done all their efforts to the maximum and optimally to prevent terrorism from happening again in Indonesia, especially during the celebration of any major holidays, including Eid al-Adha.
