Ahead of the implementation of the simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in 2024, appeals to maintain public security and order (kamtibmas) are increasingly being voiced by various parties. One of the organizations that plays an active role in maintaining kamtibmas is the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) Jayawijaya. Through its appeal, KNPI Jayawijaya invites the entire community to jointly maintain security stability ahead of the Pilkada so that the democratic party runs smoothly, safely, and peacefully.
The 2024 simultaneous regional elections are one of the important moments in Indonesian democracy, where people are given the opportunity to directly elect their leaders. Amidst the increasingly developing political dynamics, security and order are crucial factors that determine the success of the regional elections. KNPI Jayawijaya is very aware of the importance of the role of the community in maintaining public order and security in Jayawijaya, Papua, and other regions in the country.
Chairman of DPD-KNPI Jayawijaya, Unas G. Tabuni invited the youth in Jayawijaya to actively participate in maintaining security and order, and not be influenced by issues that can divide unity. KNPI Jayawijaya, as a forum for youth gathering, has a very important role in creating a peaceful atmosphere during the Pilkada stages.
According to him, youth have a central role in maintaining the integrity of the nation and its region. In this Pilkada, we appeal to all youth in Jayawijaya not to be provoked by hoax news or black campaigns that can divide the unity of society.
Youth are agents of change who have great energy in maintaining national values, unity, and oneness. KNPI Jayawijaya is committed to carrying out various socialization and education programs for the community, especially the youth, so that they are able to sort out information and are not easily provoked by emotions due to various political provocations.
A similar appeal was also conveyed by the Secretary of KNPI Jayawijaya, Iberanus Hilapok who appealed to the public to maintain Kamtibmas in Jayawijaya Regency, the mountainous province of Papua. Differences in political choices in the democratic party are something natural and normal, do not let there be divisions due to discriminatory choices.
He also hopes that the public will not be easily influenced, because political choices are normal, but we need to ensure that we do not become divided because of politics. Jayawijaya Regency as the provincial capital should be an example for peaceful regional elections. For this reason, it is hoped that cooperation from the police can create conducive public order and security, namely immediately confiscating sharp objects brought by the public during the upcoming regional elections. This is so that Jayawijaya Regency can be an example for other regencies.
Jayawijaya Police Chief Heri Wibowo said on several occasions, he had conducted socialization to the public about the importance of maintaining order during the Pilkada. He also reminded the public not to be easily provoked by various circulating issues, and to report any violations or suspicious actions to the authorities.
In maintaining public order and security, synergy between the community, youth, and security forces is the main key. KNPI Jayawijaya fully supports cooperation between all elements of society with the police and TNI to create a conducive atmosphere during the Pilkada process. Collective awareness to maintain security is very important so that the democratic process runs without disruption.
A healthy democracy requires active participation from all elements of society in exercising their voting rights wisely. Therefore, KNPI Jayawijaya strives to continue to provide understanding to the public about the importance of maintaining a clean, fair, and dignified democratic process.
With a safe, peaceful, and democratic Pilkada, the hope of electing a leader who is able to bring positive change to the region is increasing. Active participation of the community, especially the youth, in maintaining public order and security and creating a healthy democratic atmosphere is the key to achieving success in the 2024 simultaneous Pilkada.
KNPI Jayawijaya’s appeal to maintain public order and security ahead of the 2024 Pilkada is the right step in ensuring that the democratic process in Jayawijaya, in particular, and in the country in general runs safely and peacefully. Youth as agents of change are expected to play an active role in maintaining unity, rejecting identity politics and black campaigns, and synergizing with security forces to create a conducive atmosphere. By maintaining public order and security, the 2024 Pilkada is expected to be a clean, fair, and democratic event that can bring positive change to the nation and state.
Ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections, the people of Jayawijaya are expected to be more vigilant and maintain public order and security. In this case, the role of youth and organizations such as KNPI is very important to ensure that the democratic process runs smoothly. By maintaining security and peace, Jayawijaya can be an example for other regions in implementing safe, peaceful, and quality regional elections.
