Mosque as a place of worship for Muslims, is a place of worship of a Servant to Allah SWT as the Creator. As a means of worship, the mosque is the key to the development of Islamic teachings themselves. .

At a mosque, a Muslim will find his calm, will also be able to further increase his faith. The blessing of Muslims is very visible when they are congregating to carry out their services in the mosque.

A mosque that provides many benefits for the life of its worshipers. Not just a place of prayer. That is the mosque that lives and revives, not just the beautiful form of the building, but there is a sacred philosophy for Muslims.

Islam as a teaching, contains the principles of unity, namely the teaching of faith, a form of belief and trust in Allah SWT as the creator of beings and the universe.

The mosque is also a place for empowering the Ummah, having a strategic position in the course of the Ummah’s history. At the time of Muhammad Rasulullah SAW, the mosque became the basis of education, social activities, military and others. While mosques in this day and age, have not yet developed their functions as a basis for empowering the Ummah.

The Prophetic Age must be imitated in the management of mosques, the role of mosques as a place for the development of civilization. Mosque as a place of productivity for Muslims, in building ideas, Islamic teachings as a religion that is blessed by Allah SWT.

A Mosque is Not a Place for Politics

A mosque is a place where everyone comes with sincerity, without being accompanied by humanitarian interests. People who gather in mosques are very diverse, with a variety of professions, there are officials, businessmen, farmers, etc., of course this will be very risky when these people come not sincerely, by carrying out political interests of the group.

Mosque, according to Prof. Dr. Azyumardi Azra Azyumardi, purity must be maintained and become a place to get closer to Allah SWT. “We must make the mosque a place that is comfortable, peaceful, and solemn, not to be a shadow, to defend certain political parties,” said the former UIN Jakarta Chancellor.

“Mosques in Indonesia are the center of Islamic institutional development, such as Islamic education. “It is not a place of noise or political contestation, it is different as in other places, such as in the Middle East,” said Azyumardi.

Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko stated that mosques are not the right place to build political factions. “Mosques are not the right place to build factions and fight for practical political interests,” Jend said. (Ret) TNI. Moeldoko.

As a nation with a majority of Muslims, awareness must be encouraged to become a model for minorities of other faiths. Muslims must emphasize peace and tolerance between religious people living in the shade of one Nation.
