Ahead of Election, The Jakarta Institute Will Hold Discussion to Watch Out for Hoax and Sara

Jakarta, Cidiss.co – The Jakarta Institute plans to hold a discussion with the theme “Be aware of the Hoax and SARA Ahead of the Implementation of the Simultaneous Election of 2020”. The activity itself will be held on Tuesday, 18 February 2020 at the Sofyan Hotel, Tebet, South Jakarta.

There will be speakers as Irma Suryani Chaniago (Nasdem Party DPP), Asep Saifuddin (Indobarometer Observer), Helmy Fajar Andrianto (RI’s Kekominfo), Reza Fahlevi (Executive Director of The Jakarta Institute) and Representatives of KPU RI

According to the Chairperson of the Activities, RM. Sumadi revealed that this activity was in the context of socializing the 2020 Simultaneous Local Election so that it would be safe and without a Hoaks, “he told the media crew in Jakarta, Monday (17/02).

He also explained that the election is a democratic party that involves all levels of society in Indonesia so it must be done happily and without the issue of hoax, especially the issue of SARA, “he stressed.

He also revealed that hoax politics and SARA is a big challenge for Indonesia’s electoral democracy in the simultaneous local elections in 2020. Moreover, until the emergence of the polarization of identity politics irrationality which is translated in the form of evil campaigns, hoaxes, and SARA politicization will strengthen.

 “For us to hold this discussion in order to prevent that, we must be able to evaluate the simultaneous local election events more carefully and promote politic politics,” he said.

That’s why he requested that the public and students come for the smart discussion so that they could jointly become the pioneers of change and not be easily consumed by hoaks.
