High appreciation was conveyed by many parties for the success of the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PBESI) in holding the IESF Bali 14th World Esports Championship in Bali. This certainly cannot be separated from the role and commitment of Mr. Budi Gunawan as the General Chairperson of PB ESI who is committed to continuing to advance the country’s esport ecosystem.
PBESI, chaired by Budi Gunawan, has been very successful in organizing the Indonesia Esports Summit: Bali 14th World Esports Championships 2022. In fact, many parties claim that this event is the largest outdoor esports event in the world.
Of course, this recognition makes Indonesia very proud. Moreover, there is hope that with the success of the IESF Bali 14 th WEC from 2-11 December 2022, it can help boost the growth of the creative economy and also the tourism sector in the country.
By holding it in Bali, of course it will also attract many foreign visitors to come to the Island of the Gods so they can enjoy the beauty of Bali. So far, PBESI itself has packaged the event with the theme of sport tourism.
This international esports event can also introduce the cultural diversity of the archipelago in the eyes of the world. The reason is, there are lots of performances that are presented using the typical culture of the country. There were marching band and Paskibra performances, the exclusive opening set of Wonderland Indonesia which became a symbol of how the world was welcomed into Indonesia, there were also Kecak dance performances, musicals and the choreographed Indonesian Pusaka song, Saman dance performances, the colossal voice of Bagimu Negeri and other performances that combined how Indonesian culture with modern art.
Regarding how the international esport event was held by PBESI in Bali, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora RI), Zainudin Amali stated that his party continues to support all PBESI’s efforts to be able to continue to improve the country’s esports ecosystem to the world stage. He also hopes that all Indonesian esports athletes can continue to make the nation’s name proud.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of PBESI, Bambang Sunarwibowo stated that he is very full of optimism regarding the world of Indonesian esports that will be able to become a world barometer, especially knowing how successful the Indonesia Esports Summit 2022 Bali 14 th World Esports Championships will be.
Bambang Sunarwibowo explained that the success of organizing an international esport event in Bali cannot be separated from good coordination and synergy between PB ESI and many other related parties such as the Ministry of Youth and Sports to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf). Not only that, but PBESI also cooperates with various national esport community organizations to be able to determine various fundamental needs and interests.
Another form of PB ESI’s commitment to advancing esports is the existence of the Garudaku academy. The existence of an Esports academy under the auspices of PB ESI, is an effort to produce outstanding athletes. This was confirmed by the Head of the Garudaku Academy Program (the official esports academy of PB ESI), Robertus Aditya Pratomo Putro, that the concept of all teaching is very much in line with PB ESI’s vision and mission. One of these visions and missions is to be able to continue to produce quality esports athletes and also excel in the academic field.
Robertus emphasized that with all the educational programs provided by the Garudaku Academy, it will be able to produce esports athletes who are also fully aware that education is very important for increasing their competence.
The results of PB ESI’s guidance on Indonesian esports athletes were also seen when Indonesia succeeded in defeating the Philippine National Team in the Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) game. In the international Esports championship that was held in Bali, the MLBB National Team defeated the Philippine National Team with a score of 2-0. The victory was successfully presented by the Indonesian National Team, represented by the Evos Team.
Regarding this matter, the coach of the Indonesian National Team for the Mobile Legend Bang Bang match in the 2022 World Esports Championships, Coach Bjorn admitted that he was very happy for his team’s success in defeating the Philippine National Team. Meanwhile, the Head Coach of the Indonesian National Team, Yohannes P. Siagian, admitted that the team’s success in overthrowing the Philippines was the fruit of the hard work of all parties so far.
Not only the Philippines, the Indonesian National Team also managed to defeat the Argentina Team in the 2022 MLBB World Esports Championships with a score of 2-0. Furthermore, the Indonesian National Team is committed to immediately focusing on and improving their training and preparing for the match against Cambodia.
The results of this victory cannot be separated from the role of the loyal supporters of the Indonesian National Team who are even willing to come directly to Merusaka, Nusa Dua, Bali. With the enthusiasm of these supporters, it succeeded in making all the players much more excited to be able to score points.
PB ESI’s commitment to advancing Indonesian Esport cannot be underestimated. This success cannot be separated from Budi Gunawan’s commitment from the start when he was appointed as the Head of PB ESI to continue to advance the Indonesian esports world. With these positive achievements, it is hoped that in the future the world of Indonesian esports can make Indonesia proud at the international level.
