Changes in an increasingly advanced and sophisticated era, in fact easily followed by the spread of radical understanding. Including acts of terrorism that accompany it. Both of these things can not be separated because it seems to be sustainable. Radicalism e can trigger terrorism. Radical actions have many types. Ranging from hate speech to the most severe are criminal acts with extreme categories.
Why does this understanding have so many followers? The reason is, this understanding and action also offer a recognition of the existence in a group. Psychologically, recognition of existence does increase prestige and authority. People who feel their existence are recognized so that they are supported in such a way that they are unconsciously buried in false doctrines, this is dangerous.
Though these followers generally do not realize if he was being whipped to be used as a fleet to be dropped as terrorists. They will be happy to do whatever the group orders. Those who feel ignored by the government easily metamorphose with radical heroes.
It was stated that the acts of terrorism in the last 18 years experienced a decline, however, the understanding of radicalism actually continues to increase. This was said by Brawijaya University (UB) Academic, Rachmat Kriyantono, PhD.
Quoting data from the National Police Headquarters Report, Rachmat said that the incidence of terrorism in Indonesia has increased since 1996. At that time, there were at least 65 incidents. Then this act of terrorism reached its peak in 2001 with 105 events.
However, after that, the incidence of terrorism in Indonesia continued to decline sharply. Within a period of two years (2018 to 2019) there were only a total of 27 cases reported.
The Head of the Communication Studies Postgraduate Program said again, if the increase in understanding of radicalism is one of them triggered by the presence of communication factors, such as on social media. According to him, the unlimited character of social media can make the spread of radical ideas even more difficult to prevent.
The acceleration of understanding of radicalism spreads because of the increasing acceleration of internet users. Plus the dominance of hoax sites and terongong radicalism is high.
According to the Data, showing the sites of large moderate Islamic Organizations, NU and Suara Muhammadiyah are in fact still not dominating. This is still outperformed by conservative Islamic sites, which in quotation marks are more welcome towards understanding radicalism.

Meanwhile, Sociologist of Brawijaya University (UB) Ali Maksum said, the occurrence of radical understanding in Indonesia is generally caused by internal and external factors. Internal factors include religion, politics and economics. Meanwhile, external factors are caused by global political conditions , Arab springs and geo-politics.
The spread of this radical understanding can be prevented by affirming Islamic moderation in the archipelago, instilling a spirit of nationalism, an open mind and high tolerance, being alert to provocation or incitement , networking in positive and constructive communities, also prioritizing peace and carrying out religious activities with tolerance.
If all of them can be carried out as well as possible, of course it will give birth to a harmony and competence that is qualified in tackling the spread of radicalism and terrorism.
