The government firmly rejects the teachings of communism as the MPRS TAP Number XXV / MPRS / 1966 regarding the Prohibition of Communism / Marxism-Leninism Teaching. The public is also expected to be smart and influenced by the politicization of PKI issues allegedly spread by irresponsible elements to create distrust of the Government.
In the midst of the shock of Indonesia in the economic field due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, there were new issues floating in the media. A number of students rallied, asking to reduce President Joko Widodo.
These past few days, there have been a handful of videos spread by elements of the Indonesian Student Association (HMI) who want Jokowi to resign, and there are other provocations that are similar to demanding Jokowi. In their demands, the younger students assumed that President Joko Widodo was unable to overcome the PKI problems that were developing in the community. The insistence of the unscrupulous student was unfortunate, because his statement was not accompanied by valid evidence and critical attitude like academics.
In May 2020, a circulating photo of Megawati cutting a cone, it was claimed that Jokowi and Megawati were attending a secret meeting to celebrate the day of the PKI’s rise. The information is a vicious slander, because the photo is not celebrating the rise of the PKI but celebrating the PDI Perjuangan in South Jakarta in 2014.
Defamation of the Government which is considered to have allowed the PKI to be an old scenario repeated. The pattern is always the same. The issue was just thrown by irresponsible people through social media by utilizing the lack of public interest to learn history from official sources that were still minimal. The issue was concocted in such a way that it was as if the rise of the PKI was really real. After that the group spread and herded. It was already widely discussed, there was a movement to burn the PKI flag. So it continued until the public began to feel embarrassed.
The accusation that the Government is unable to overcome the PKI is a cruel slander. It is very possible that the accusation is an attempt to cover up the hard work of the Government so far, mainly in helping the people affected by Covid-19. However, if left unchecked, the PKI issue which continues to be heralded results in something that is not good for the Indonesian government.
All sorts of accusations were made, it was an attempt by some groups so that Indonesia became hotter and could not focus on trying to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.
The accusation made by the student is not true. The reason is that the Indonesian government has tried to make Indonesia clean of the PKI (Indonesian communist party). This is proven by the existence of MPR Decree, Tap No. XXV / MPRS / 1966.
In the MPR Tap, Mahfud MD as the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security stated that no one could revoke the MPR Tap. So it is certain, the PKI will not be able to rise again in Indonesia. That was also confirmed by Mahfud MD, even though this new MPR.
The number of issues that have arisen has led the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security to add and provide an explanation to the public regarding the emergence of the Pancasila Ideology Draft Bill or under another name the HIP Bill.
The existence of the draft aims to make Indonesia increasingly give strength to the ideology of this nation, not even vice versa, giving room for the PKI to rise again. He also stated that the existence of the HIP Bill was not to open the door for the PKI.
Related to the existence of the bill, Mahfud MD provides the opportunity for the public to criticize and participate in providing input to the bill.
The existence of the HIP Bill will not change MPR Decree number 25 in 1966 then. This indicates that Indonesia will be safe from communism, because the party will not be able to rise again at any time. And what has been accused of Jokowi and his government regarding his inability to protect the country from communism is wrong.
The entire Indonesian community, both from academics, does not need to be provoked and influenced by current political issues. Because the State of Indonesia will still be safe from the threat of PKI as long as the MPR Decree no. 25 / MPRS / 1966.
