The public and security forces need to increase awareness of the potential for terror in the month of Ramadan, especially ahead of Idhul Fitri. Because the perpetrators believe that the terror committed in this holy month is a special thing because if in the action they die, they will be considered martyrs.
The spread of radicalism still continues to threaten the Indonesian nation. Precisely at the moment of Ramadan like this, the perpetrators of terror are ferociously taking action. There have been many records from past years related to acts of terror in the month of Ramadan.
Security forces need to tighten security and increase awareness of the symptoms of terrorism in the month of Ramadan. Ramadhan in 1441 H was indeed different from previous years because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This makes the lecturers who usually come to the audience or the teaching process conducted face to face, now must take place online.
Even this opportunity is exploited by radicals to spread their understanding online. So we need to be aware if there are lectures that tend to discredit other groups who do not agree excessively.
The radical group is actually not about religion, but is done for political purposes. For them religion is only the media, because the nature of religion is not the case. There is no religion in the world that justifies violence.
Although it cannot be denied that the perpetrators of terror, they only understand textual religious learning without looking at the contextual concept. This is usually caused by their self-taught way of learning religion. Learn the law and the ins and outs of the provisions of religion without a clear teacher and sanad. So that their understanding of religion is shallow. This group is an easy target for the spread of radicalism.
Usually this radical understanding affects many children and women. There are also many who have incomplete or perfect religious understanding so that it is easy to enter the doctrines of radicalism.
As a modern human, it should be able to be clearly sorted out as to what process of jihad is appropriate. That is, instead of carrying out bombings or acts of terror, isn’t being a Covid-19 volunteer a real jihad? In an era like this, there has been no war, acts of violence are not jihad, but terrorism that threatens the safety of the people.
As an Indonesian citizen who is based on Pancasila, he should understand very well in relation to a sense of tolerance towards others considering that in Indonesia there is more than one religion. We must understand awareness of mutual respect and maintain harmony. So that when radicalism spreads, we are completely unaffected.
RI MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo submitted a request to the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) in order to increase prevention of the spread of radicalism and terrorism among the public.
This prevention effort can be done by providing education about radicalism, terrorism, and intolerance as well as ways to prevent this from entering the lives of the people.
Bambang also said that the MPR along with related NGO institutions would continue to take action on the socialization of Pancasila to all Indonesian people. It is intended that all people understand well about the ideology of the Indonesian state.
Director of Prevention of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), Brigadier General Hamli said that there needs to be vigilance against acts of terrorism. The entire intelligence community is wary because it has memorized the pattern of terrorists who often carry out acts of terror in the month of Ramadan.
This war against the ideology of terrorism cannot be overcome by the government alone. Because community involvement is needed to eradicate this understanding. When there are no more people affected, that understanding might slowly disappear.
