Inauguration of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia: Evidence of the Victory of Democracy and People’s Sovereignty

The journey of a democratic party in Indonesia which is very long, tiring and expensive will soon be completed with the inauguration of Joko Widodo and Ma’ruf Amin as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2019 to 2024. The victory of Candidate 01 during the 2019 Presidential Election was determined by “sudden death” namely it must go through a legal decision issued by the Constitutional Court (MK), and then it is strengthened by the decision of the Indonesian KPU to legalize Paslon 01 as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.
So far, there is no prominent fact that the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin inauguration procession will face serious obstacles such as the rejection of the oath taking process or through the threat of group rallies that reject Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin’s victory. So far, security forces, intelligence officers and law enforcement officers have been relatively successful in detecting and failing the maneuvers of various groups that will disrupt the national political event, including arresting a number of suspected terrorists in several areas including Pandeglang (Banten), Bali, Manado (North Sulawesi) , Cengkareng (Jakarta), Bandung and Cirebon (West Java), Jambi, Lampung, Poso (Central Sulawesi), Central Java and East Java. Therefore, respect and support for the positive results expressed by various groups in several regions, that the inauguration of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia must be successful because it is a reflection or proof of the victory of democracy and people’s sovereignty.
According to the author’s note, there are several figures and CSOs who express their support and positive participation so that the inauguration of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin runs safely, peacefully and smoothly, among others, the Bestari Mempawah Association of Journalists in Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan, where this group firmly rejects the actions of Demonstrations aimed at obstructing the implementation of the inauguration and in full support of the inauguration and administration of the Jokow-Ma’ruf Amin government for the next five years, because the democratic process has been carried out well.
Similar messages and support were also expressed by labor organizations in Banjar City, West Java, assessing that the Indonesian people would be proud to have Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin as the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia who was democratically elected. This labor organization also rejects anarchist demonstrations in order to preserve the beauty of the nation and state and invites the public to guard the constitution, strongly denounces the actions of radicalism and terrorism movements that disrupt the life of the nation and state and society.
Support was also conveyed by various figures in Central Sumba Regency (NTT), even they were also active in warding off negative information that developed in the mass media, especially social media because many hoaks were still milling about on social media ahead of the inauguration of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin. A similar positive opinion was expressed by MUI of Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency and one of the youth leaders of Kuala Sub-District in Jambi, where they supported the inauguration of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin and regretted the anarchist action that caused physical and even fatalities from the police officers in dealing with rioters. while infiltrating student demonstrations.
Not only that, there was positive momentum ahead of the inauguration of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin at the Great Mosque of At Taqwa, Tideng Pale Village, Sesayap District, Tana Tidung Regency, North Kalimantan where local government officials, together with traditional leaders, religious leaders, community leaders and women leaders in Tana Tidung Regency by making a petition and joint commitment refusing to reject the acts of terrorism and terrorism in the North Kalimantan region and we support and guard the inauguration of the elected President and Vice President of Indonesia for the 2019-2024 term.
So, if there are still interest groups that want to reject the inauguration of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin, it seems they have to get ready to become “common enemies” of the Indonesian people.
