International Relations Observer: Indonesia Plays a Central Role at the ASEAN Summit
JAKARTA – Jakarta is hosting the 43rd High Level Conference (KTT) of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) which will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center from 5 to 7 September 2023. Padjadjaran University International Relations Expert, Teuku Rezasyah said, Indonesia is The host has a very important role in the ASEAN Summit.
“Moreover, Indonesia has a central role in advancing various sectors in the ASEAN region such as the trade sector, export import and various other sectors,” said Rezasyah in a dialogue program on Elshinta radio with the theme Indonesia’s Important Role at the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
According to Rezasyah, specifically on economic issues, economic development in East Asia must follow economic developments in ASEAN. The reason is, ASEAN countries play a role in advancing the Asian and even global economies. He gave examples such as the role of Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and various other ASEAN countries.
Regarding geopolitical issues, said Rezasyah, ASEAN is a fairly safe region. Moreover, currently there is no conflict between ASEAN countries. He explained that ASEAN provides peace bonuses for countries outside ASEAN.
“Countries such as South Korea, Japan, North Korea and various other countries have greatly benefited from the geopolitical conditions that exist in the ASEAN region,” he said.
Rezasyah explained, ASEAN has credibility in the world. Because ASEAN is currently the best organizational region in the world.
Jakarta, as the host of the ASEAN Summit on 5-7 September 2023, is one of the economic cities in ASEAN that is attractive to
ASEAN countries, especially regarding investment.
“Jakarta is one of the economic buffer cities in ASEAN where the development of the city of Jakarta continues to show significant improvement
. “The large number of state leaders who attended this summit shows the great importance of Jakarta in encouraging the development of the ASEAN region,” he said.
