“The government’s decision to extend the PPKM is correct. The Government’s decision to extend the PPKM is correct. The PPKM that has been in place for three weeks has not been enough to significantly reduce transmission and health impacts,” said Muhammadiyah Secretary General Abdul Mu’ti in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 21, 2021.

The government’s decision to extend the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) until July 25, 2021 is supported by Muhammadiyah.

Abdul Mu’ti hopes that this policy can be socialized and communicated more intensively by involving various elements of society. According to him, the success of PPKM is largely determined by the discipline of the community and the consistency of the apparatus.

“The implementation of PPKM must be applied to all parties. For example, related to the travel and arrival of various parties from abroad, especially the indications of foreign workers entering from certain countries,” he said.

In addition, for establishments, Mu’ti requested that the social assistance program from the government be distributed immediately. This is also to ensure that the community’s basic needs are still met.

“We need a persuasive humanist approach. The procedural and rigid approach must end. Vaccination also needs to be accelerated through collaboration with various parties,” he said.
