OMNIBUS LAW FOR WHO?

The issuance of the Draft Omnibus Law on Cipta Karya has drawn two responses in the community, namely supporting and rejecting. Support is given because this policy will benefit Indonesia. But the rejection was expressed because this rule is detrimental to workers. One of the parties who refused was the President of the Central Board of the Confederation of Indonesian Muslim Trade Unions, Syaiful Bahri Anshori, said that the rules in the Draft Omnibus Law on Employment Copyright were a form of punishments against workers. Because, many things or provisions regulated in this government initiative bill are detrimental to workers. He also considered that the drafting of this bill was rushed, closed and did not involve all stakeholders. Mainly the workers who are considered as parties who truly understand labor issues.
He and the labor coalition organization have invited the government several times to discuss the Draft Omnibus Law on Working Copyright. But the government continues to circumvent to realize the good intentions of the labor coalition. He even considered that the drafting of this law did not solve labor problems in Indonesia. One of them is seen from the absence of pension guarantees for workers. In fact, this is a crucial need for workers to survive in the future.
According to him, there are articles in the Draft Omnibus Law on Employment Copyright that harm Indonesian workers. First, foreign workers can occupy positions except those in charge of personnel. Second, related to the determination of wages based on working hours or the results provided so that monthly income is not fixed. And the third is the addition of overtime hours so it is considered very burdensome for workers. However, this rejection was expressed because several parties had not read the official draft of the Work Copyright Bill. Yet in it, the government made these rules to benefit all parties, especially laborers. With the rules per hour worked, the government is trying to provide justice so that workers are paid according to the effort given. Through this climate, it is hoped that human resources are more professional and competitive so that they are able to compete with foreign workers.
