The people of Papua and West Papua are compatriots and fellow citizens who must get good service and are considered as the subject of development, not just objects. The social welfare approach is certainly important to resolve the problems faced in Papua as implemented by the current government. Therefore, Papuan escape from Indonesia is considered unable to bring prosperity to the community.
Minister Sosal Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that the social welfare approach is very important compared to other approaches. Therefore Papuans can also determine their own types of social welfare.
Even related to the riots that occurred in Papua and West Papua, the Ministry of Social Affairs has deployed a team from the Directorate of Social Protection and Security to conduct an assessment related to what assistance is needed.
Agus also said that the government would ensure it would be present to provide social rehabilitation for victims who were victims in Papua and West Papua. The presence of the government in handling conflicts can be in the form of assistance or stimulants for affected victims, both victims whose businesses have been damaged to those injured.
The welfare program provided by Indonesia to remote areas including in the Papua region certainly cannot be underestimated. If Papua wants a referendum, certainly it is questionable who will seek prosperity for Papua. Instead there is division.
Previously Minister Agus had released 45 Professional Remote Traditional Community Assistance (KAT). They will be assigned to 45 KAT locations which, as the name implies, are located in remote areas throughout Indonesia.
He mentioned that 45 of these professional assistants were generally young with amazing dedication to KAT assistance. The program is a form of state presence, through the placement of KAT social assistants, development must continue to reach the corners of the country.
According to him, the KAT program is the flagship program of the social ministry which aims to improve social welfare through social empowerment to make citizens experiencing social problems have power, so they are able to meet their basic needs.
The objectives of social empowerment of KAT are protection of the rights as citizens, fulfillment of basic needs, integration of KAT with broader social systems, independence as citizens.
Therefore, we should not be easily caught up in the provocative movement heralded by the OPM separatist group, we must also remain vigilant against the interference of other countries through extraordinary acts of propaganda.
The issue of Ham violations which is often heralded by separatist groups seems to indicate that Indonesia has done evil to Papua, even though the Government of Indonesia is also struggling to create a peaceful Papua.
Industry Minister Airlangga Hartanto revealed that Papua has always been the concern of President Jokowi. Coupled with subsidies for the region given greater than the award given by PT Freeport. From the economic sector, many also think that Indonesia is taking natural resources (SDA).
But we also need to know, all of the huge income from freeport and gas is approximately Rp. 20 trillion in royalties tax. But the government has also poured in a subsidiary budget of nearly Rp 100 trillion.
One of the commitments of the Indonesian government in efforts to improve the welfare of Papua is the construction of the Orya Genyem 2 x 10 MW Hydroelectric Power Plant, 2×1 25 MW Prafi Mini Hydro Power Plant. The 70-kilovolt High Voltage Air Line Genyem-Waena-Jayapura circuits.
In addition, there are also 70 kilovolt Holtekamp-Jayapura High Voltage Airways (SUTT) along 43.4 kilometers of the circuit, Waena-Sentani 20 Megavolt Ampere substation and Jayapura 20 Megavolt Ampere substation.
Meanwhile President Jokowi has put forward a holistic approach for the welfare of the people in Papua. Exceptional infrastructure development and the addition of special autonomy funds are also a concern for the president.
As a sovereign country, Indonesian people should work together together to support the realization of the unity and prosperity of the Indonesian people, we must also believe that the Unitary Republic of Indonesia and Pancasila are non-negotiable. Moreover, separatist groups not only heralding the issue of human rights that are continuously fried, without thinking about how the welfare of Papua if separated from the Republic of Indonesia.
