The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto has received reports from Papua and West Papua from the Regional Military Commander and the Papua Regional Police Head who reported that the atmosphere in Papua was conducive.
Wiranto explained, the condition of Papua was conducive and certainly safe because the community had carried out activities as usual. In addition, the National Police and the Indonesian Military (TNI) are still continuing to ensure that the riots do not re-outbreak.
He also expressed his gratitude, because the shops in Papua had opened and life was running again, the traditional market which was the chain of the people’s economy was running normally.
Then, public services have also begun to run again, especially in urban areas, including transportation services (ports, airports, terminals), fuel distribution, government, health, markets, banking, and even PDAMs that are able to function even though they need a little repair because there is damage caused by the riots.
PT Pelindo or the container has also started shipping to warehouse shelters, Bank Mandiri has re-opened its services, and the electricity supply has returned to normal although PLN is still doing repairs in some damaged places.
In addition, the former TNI Commander emphasized that maintaining the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) was the duty of all the people. Therefore, mutual respect and respect for differences is the basic capital for unity.
He also said, currently religious leaders, community leaders and traditional leaders continue to coordinate and meeting efforts to continue to maintain a peaceful state in order to be maintained.
On different occasions, Mustofa Kamal, as the Head of the Papua Police’s Public Relations, said the situation in Papua had returned to being conducive. The people of Papua have been able to carry out their activities as usual.
Kamal revealed, Brimob Nusantara had been deployed to various regions of Papua, to keep the situation and conditions safe. So that the Papuan people can carry out their activities without any worries.
Brimob Nusantara troops, including from East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Mako Brimob each with 250 personnel.
To maintain security and stability in Papua, a Regional Head Forum was held in the Tanah Tabi area which consisted of several districts, namely Keerom, Mamberamo Raya, Sarmi and Jayapura City. Sentani on 3 September.
The forum discusses the developing conditions, then looks for solutions on how to maintain security and peace in the customary territory. Also the religious forum communication meeting Kab. Jayapura is led by the Jayapura Regent and invites traditional leaders, community leaders, religious leaders to coordinate meetings, togetherness in order to create an atmosphere of peace, a calm atmosphere, and this will continue to be done.
Wiranto also explained that it was related to the issues that had developed about the subsequent demonstrations in Manokwari. According to him, there was indeed incitement, provocation and hoax news about scheduled demonstrations.
Wiranto explicitly said that this was a hoax, because there were still groups who wanted the situation to be chaotic so the security forces were still cautious. That is the reason why internet access in Papua is still limited, because there is still provocation and provocative calls.
It is hoped that the security apparatus with persuasive efforts can reduce this to no longer be demonstrations, no more destruction, no more burning.
Then there were also reports related to the process of sending the body, Maikel Kareth who was a victim yesterday when there was a mass clash on September 1 in Abepura. The Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security said that the body would be buried in Maybrat Regency and it had turned out to be safe, conducive and there were no things to worry about.
Although it was gradually safe, in Manokwari there were still demonstrations on September 3 in several locations, but the number of the masses was not large only around 30-50 people and the participants peacefully dispersed in an orderly manner after expressing their aspirations.
Government efforts to stabilize security in Papua have certainly shown significant developments, especially with the wheels of the economy and services in Papua which are gradually returning to normal.
